LA spends $5.5 MILLION to construct just 100 beds for homeless as Newsom's 1,200 tiny homes project remains unfinished after three years

The City of Los Angeles, California spent over $5.5 million to construct a new tiny home village for the homeless in Van Nuys. The project was only able to produce 100 beds for those who would use them.

The tiny home village is the fourth site of its type in Council District 2 and was made in an effort to help with the huge homeless population in LA. The city had allocated $5,578,379 to spend on construction for the project, according to city documents.

[snip]

The tiny home village, equipped with 100 beds, mean that each spot cost approximately $55,000 to build. Spencer Pratt pointed this out on X in a post and said, "They spent $5.5M of your tax dollars on this. For 100 beds. That's $55K per bed. If you were to simply give somebody $55K, they could rent out a room in Van Nuys for 5 years. But then no contractor or NGO is getting their beak wet on the transaction. See the scam yet?"

Correction: They probably spend $1500 per tiny home. The rest of the money went into the pockets of politicians and their friends and family.

“During her terms in office, Democratic Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer offered billions in taxpayer-funded subsidies to select companies. Overall, she authorized $6.9 billion in subsidies during her tenure. Of that, $2.7 billion was offered to just eight major projects. Of the $1.8 billion of that figure that has been spent so far, there have only been 602 jobs created, breaking down to about $3 million spent per job, according to a new report from the Mackinac Center for Public Policy.”

If governments are inclined to house the homeless, Quonset huts are an inexpensive solution. They were good enough for our service members, they are perfect for the homeless.

Governor “Shinyface” Whitmer is the queen of the boodoggle:

The main solar facility in the Gaylord, MI area is the Gaylord Solar Project, a 150-megawatt utility-scale solar farm. The project is situated in Bagley Township in Otsego County, about 1 mile southwest of downtown Gaylord.

Gaylord is the Snow Capital of Northern Lower Michigan...

Whitmer keeps Michigan face pancake companies in business.

Nothing like having a government contract with DEI provisions. In Eugene this one person I worked with was frustrated because this non-performer always gave the low bid on the contract. I said she should meet the person that wrote the specs for police cars. He wanted Fords and by the time he was through writing up the Ford was the only one that could compete.

We used to put them in jails or mental hospitals and that worked well. They are not unhoused. They are drug addicts. Let’s stop wasting billions of dollars on losers who don’t want to improve their lives.

$55,000 a person could provide a place for the druggies to dry out under a physician’s care. A few of them might be saved in such a situation.

Throwing more money at the problem isn’t helping. Mainly due to the fact that little of the money ever reaches the problem. There is too much corruption in federal, state, and local governments, especially in blue cities and blue states. Until a lot of them go to prison, it’s not going to stop.

They could end homelessness in California by ending the H-1B program.

Heard JB Pritzker and Stacey Abrams went into a tiny house for a photo op. Never squeezed out.

True story: A heavy customer in a fast food place couldn’t get back out of the booth after a large meal and the fire department sawed the booth apart. He sued to place for embarrassment.

I tried to find the story which I KNOW happened around 10 years ago because of which people at work shared it with me.
Disappeared.

We all know that $55,000 for each bed is just camouflage for Democrat money laundering.
