Latino voters shifted sharply toward President Trump in each of the last two presidential elections, a trend that shocked and confounded Democrats.
Many in the party have been asking: Why did this happen, and what can we do about it?
Those questions are even more urgent now for Democrats, with Latino voters set to play a key midterm role in deciding who wins control of Congress. They make up at least 20 percent of the population in a majority of the most competitive House districts. And Latinos also account for a significant slice of voters in two crucial Senate races — North Carolina and Georgia.
Way to Win, a Democratic-aligned group that focuses on the Sun Belt, including Latino voters, has a new report out today that offers some possible answers for the party.
One conclusion: “The fastest way to lose these communities is to treat their ethnicity as the most interesting thing about them,” the report says.
It’s worth lingering on that statement. Some Democrats have long treated Latino voters as a kind of monolithic group. They’ve focused on Spanish-language advertising, brought mariachi bands to campaign rallies, and sprinkled Spanish into their speeches — all in an effort to attract a growing demographic that is essential to a winning national coalition.
This report suggests that the reality is much more complicated.

I didn’t see the made-up word Latinx used at all (but I couldn’t get to the end of the article). Are you OK, NYTimes? You don’t seem like yourself. What happened to the liberal ideal of forcing the silly little brown people with their silly little gendered language to add a neuter form? El Latin, la Latina, das Latinx. Und you vill speak mit der neuter Word, or else.
The Democrats just need to push transgender issues and black male boundaries more...
The only ones who have ever used the made up word “latinx” are white liberals.
For some reason, early in my life I found myself fascinated with the Spanish language. This Irish Catholic Caucasian saved up money and eventually attended the University of Salamanca in Spain.
Almost everything, EVERYTHING in the Spanish language is either feminine or masculine. From nouns to articles.
If a word ends with an “a” it is feminine. Feminine words demand the feminine article “la.”
If a word ends with an “o” it is masculine, and demands the masculine article “el.”
The word for chair is silla (see-ya). You must use the feminine article “la” with the word silla - la silla.
The word for book is libro.
El libro.
If you would like to be sure to sound like a gringo, use la libro, or el silla.
The idea of Latinx was so utterly ridiculous, most people just laughed. As the woke woksters pushed for it, it only made them appear more ridiculous.
And, one of the several reasons so many Hispanic men voted for President Trump is they all could answer the question What Is A Woman.
You would think that someone advising DNC would tell them not to do this. But they are all coastal elitists living in a bubble so that's why they keep making stupid mistakes like this one.
