Oh Canada, the last 48 hours have been really radical. So, what’s going on?
Well, for starters, Canada has been sold to everybody as America’s polite, safer, more reasonable neighbor. They’re supposed to be really calm, orderly, functional. Sure, maybe a bit annoying, but basically stable Mables.
But thanks to all the radical left-wing stuff, that “aw shucks” image is getting a lot harder to sell.
The housing market is a disaster, and it’s about to get worse, according to a new report:
The Globe and Mail:
Nearly one in 10 mortgage holders in the Toronto area won’t be able to refinance their loans or renew them with a new lender in 2027 if home prices remain at current depressed levels, according to a Bank of Canada report.
The central bank’s financial stability report, released late last month, estimates 9 per cent of borrowers in the Toronto region could not qualify to refinance their loans next year. Nationally, the bank estimates the level to be 4 per cent.
That’s because these borrowers’ property values have fallen significantly since they got their mortgages. These borrowers will not be able to take equity out of their homes to pay down debts – one way of refinancing a loan.
They also will not be able to refinance their loans in other ways, such as lengthening the time it takes to pay back the loan or simply renewing a mortgage with a different lender.
And Canada’s economy is circling the drain, and President Trump just pounded the last nail in their coffin.

The country is now controlled by activists, left-wing bureaucrats, and left-wing elites who seem to think every problem can be solved with more slogans, censorship, lectures, and hashtags.
Who can forget their new ghoulish booming euthanasia program? Even churches are pushing it as a “legit” option.

A church in Canada has invited in a speaker to talk about the importance of MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying) and why self-euthenasia is a legitimate option to consider.
In Canada, more than 5% of all deaths are from MAID. In some provinces like Quebec it’s almost 7.5% and in some regions it’s more than 12%.
And now, on top of all that, Canada is watching radical anti-Israel street politics turn into something really dark.
And you don’t have to like the Israeli government to see the darkness. Let’s be honest, plenty of people don’t like Bibi Netanyahu or how he runs his government. But that’s fine. You can criticize a foreign government, question foreign aid, dislike Netanyahu, or oppose Israeli policy without being “antisemetic.” However, vandalizing synagogues, firebombing buildings, drawing swastikas on someone’s driveway, or threatening people at a public walk is taking this into a territory that’s dangerous and dark.
And what we described above is what has happened over the past 48 hours.
The really rich part of this story is how the same left-wing activists who spent years calling Trump “literally Hitler” are suddenly very quiet when actual swastikas start showing up in Canada.
Any which way you slice it, these last 48 hours in Canada have shined a light on a nation that is troubled.

This is our new normal.
A country can’t thrive with all of this diseased, twisted left-wing drama unfolding, from assisted suicide to bombings and everything in between. Once threats, vandalism, intimidation, and open hatred become part of the political atmosphere, that side has lost the plot.
Canada has a ruling culture that spent years embracing radicals, making excuses for disorder, and pretending every red flag was just right-wing hysteria. Now the country has broken housing, a stressed economy, a horrific work culture, and street politics that look more like ISIS than our so-called “friendly” neighbors next door.

The crazier Ontario and Ottawa get, the more likely that western Canada (and maybe even the Maritimes) will secede and either go independent, or join the US.
Guess it is no longer “fun to be Canadian”.
Canada now has two choices:
1. Be more like Trump’s America. Personal freedom. Controlled immigration.
2. Be more like Starmer’s UK. Socialism. Less freedom. Uncontrolled immigration.
I suppose that the average Canadian might consider option #1.
But the Canadian government will certainly pick option #2.

I read somewhere that one reason the Brits voted to leave the EU was the EU even has teapot regulations. The EU was telling the Brits what kind of teapots they could and could not buy.
I can’t imagine that the average Canadian would want to live under such conditions.
No matter. Carney is not dumb. He probably won’t put EU membership up to a national referendum. Just have the Canadian parliament get it done in the middle of the night.
The “supply chain data” bit is the killer. This will reveal how much of Canada’s economy is really nothing but handling CCP junk products thru Canada — product laundering.

Totally agree! Trump is a smart guy. But he desperately needs a filter - some wise old senior adviser to tell him when to step back and reconsider things.
