Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom did his best to insult several Southern states in a social media post Thursday.
“Confederate states are rushing through rigged maps to erase Black districts off the map,” Newsom wrote above a map demonstrating the possible effects of redistricting in Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
It is strange we should have “black districts” in the first place. Newsom makes no acknowledgement of this.
“If this doesn’t make you angry, it should,” Newsom continued.
(An aside: Why wouldn’t a dispassionate analysis suffice? I find the constant encouragement to anger, or joy, or fear, a little tedious.)
Newsom, who is broadly speculated to mount a 2028 presidential run, departs from the traditional political strategy of “making voters like you.” Granted, his staffers are likely writing his social media posts, but the optics are poor in any case. Newsom’s reference to the Confederacy reads like a strangely bitter historical hangup. Especially given that Newsom is, fairly explicitly, advocating for the government to recognize privileges for certain people on the basis of race.
Newsom alluded to a possible presidential run in October 2025 during an interview with CBS’s “Sunday Morning.”
“Who the hell knows? I’m looking forward to who presents themselves in 2028 and who meets that moment, and that’s the question for the American people,” Newsom said, adding that he’d “be lying” if he claimed he wasn’t considering a run.
“Yeah, I’d be lying otherwise,” Newsom said. “I’d just be lying, and I can’t do that.”
Far be it from a politician to lie.

He believes that he can insult 1/2 of the dimrats in the country and still be President.
Doesn’t matter anyway because the party picks the candidate, not the dimrat voters.
I have read that it’s his wife that’s the boss, ala Hillary Clinton II..............
We tried hard to be the Confederate States but some would not consider it.
I know we cannot expect intellectual honesty out of somebody like him.
But Newsom engineered an effort in his state to sharply reduce the number of Republican congressional seats. But that apparently is okay, because if you’re liberal, you’re allowed to do anything in support of a liberal cause.
But if Republicans do anything similar to what he did in his own state, then that becomes the end of life as we know it.
Apparently to him, gerrymandering is okay when Democrats do it, but is a crime against humanity if Republicans do the same.
That applies not just to him but to all Democrats. They can do no evil in their own eyes.....................

Newsom’s such a loser he had to buy up most of the copies of his recent book to make it look like people cared to read it... They don’t.
Have you heard Newsom’s wife speak? She can make Kamala Harris sound intelligent and interesting by comparison.
We cannot expect "intellectual" anything out of somebody like him.
Those rambling word salads are manifestations of highly intelligent people in Democrat circles...............
