Catholic TV presenter slams politicized Popes Francis/Leo
Univista TV ^ | May 7, 2026 | Marian de la Fuente

Pope Leo has criticized Trump over Iran... If it would have been any pope..but this is Pope Leo who has openly criticizing immigration policies of Donald Trump, he has been a defender of policies of Barack Hussein Obama...

Fajardo: The Vatican is a theocratic stare... it's not democratic...Pope Leo is head of State...all around him know why he was elected...

Marian:

As a Catholic...

And I’m going to put this to you very clearly. It absolutely sickened me to see Pope Francis travel to Cuba and not advocate for Cuban prisoners, and travel to Nicaragua and not advocate for Nicaraguan prisoners—and I have never once heard him advocate for either group. How is that possible, especially when they have bishops who are being kicked out of the Church?

Church is crumbling so fast there must have had interior rot we’ve never heard of going on for years.

I went to Catholic high school and college, haven’t really recognized the Church for the last 15 years. Sad and infuriating,

Over 50% of the world’s Cardinals were moved to vote for this person to be Pope.

The rot is everywhere, there.

Question - have you gone to Church in the past 15 years?

You need to ignore the ministerial priests and keep your eye on the High Priest - Jesus - who is present at each Mass as both High Priest and one-time sacrifice in the form of the Eucharist. Who cares if the ministerial priests are good or bad - they are men. Keep your eye on the main person - Jesus - who is unequivocally GOOD

i’ve only known 4 Popes - JPII, Benedict, Frankie and Leo.

Quite frankly on any basis, Leo is an improvement over Frankie.

We were spoiled with JPII. Leo is a stabilizer - with the exception of his needless antagonism towards President Trump, he is not going down Frankie’s path. My guess for his Trump clashes is that he need to show that he is not favoring the USA so he is going in the opposite direction. He entered office wanting to be a “quiet pastor,” but the volatile state of global politics—particularly involving his home country—has had people looking for him to make some statement. I think he would be better off being pontifical.

Remember that:
1. the USA is preponderantly powerful - and with the election of an American as Pope the fear was that temporal and spiritual power was handed to the hegemon
2. he can criticize a democracy like the USA, but if he does it to China or other places, then the people on the ground will suffer (I remember during the Danish cartoons and K burning when I was in Syria and India and Bahrain and spoke to frightened local Christians - i thought that it is easy to be brave when we live in the USA but those burning Qs in Syria or Iraq are braver)

Leo’s tone is reserved, missionary-focused, formal, and academic.

He has done quiet stuff that of course the MSM doesn’t note:
1. He recently announced the theme for the upcoming 100th anniversary of World Mission Sunday: “One in Christ, United in Mission.” He has explicitly stated that the Church’s mission is “not an end in itself” but an outgrowth of love and spiritual communion.

2. is choice to visit Hippo Regius in Algeria was highly symbolic. By visiting the site where St. Augustine served as a missionary-bishop, he highlighted the idea of the Church in Mohammedan lands

3. He has frequently called for a “new missionary age,” specifically thanking those serving “beyond their homelands.” Having served in Peru for decades, he has prioritized the Pontifical Mission Societies, using his personal experience to argue that the Global North needs to learn from the “vibrant, communal faith” of the Global South.

4. He refocused the church on Eucharistic devotion. By carrying the cross through massive crowds and holding more than 65 public Masses in a year, he has appealed to the “traditional” sense of piety that some felt was missing, while maintaining the “progressive” focus on inclusion.

Looking at this unbiasedly, this is far from a “rot” - at best it is a “quiet time” - we need to look at the wider and longer picture - a Pope has on average less than 10 years in office, but the Body of Christ is ~2000 years old - it has survived worse, far worse and will survive worse - not because of any human being but because of the grace of God
