Nick Reiner, who is under arrest for the murder of Rob and Michele Reiner, checked into a Santa Monica hotel early Sunday morning, and left a trail of blood behind ... sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ.
Nick checked into The Pierside Santa Monica around 4 AM Sunday, using his credit card. His check-in came hours after he got into a heated argument with his father at Conan O'Brien's Christmas party.
Eyewitnesses who saw Nick check in say he seemed "tweaked out", but there were no visible signs he had been in a violent confrontation -- we're told definitely no blood stains or cuts on his body.
The reservation was made for just a day, but Nick never formally checked out.
When the staff came into his room later Sunday morning, they found the shower "full of blood" and blood on the bed. The window in the room was covered by bed sheets.

LAPD Robbery-Homicide detectives went to the hotel Monday to gather evidence and also interview employees.
Nick was eventually tracked down and arrested around 20 miles away in Exposition Park, near downtown Los Angeles.

TMZ broke the story ... sources told us Nick was acting very strange at Conan's party ... not interacting with guests, and his attire was out of place ... it was a pretty ritzy event, but Nick was rolling around in a sweatshirt and seemed high on something.
The Reiner's have had problems for years trying to help Nick kick his substance abuse problem ... largely to no avail.
PING!
Thanks for the link!.................
Wow.
Let the guy loose.
He’s an orphan.
He must have killed them right after the party Saturday night, then went to the hotel to clean up..............
The article writes like he checked in trailing blood.
One might think that, but the third paragraph above is contradictory.
But at least the Rams won. Am I right, Chuck Shroomer? Up high!
If OJs trial taught us anything, it’s that cops carry blood around and use it to try and frame you.
Rob Reiner fantasized about old white men dying off.
Who knew his son shared the same fantasy.
was Nick actually invited? Or only his parents, and Nick crashed in looking for them?
What did they argue about?
must have attempted suicide
My guess is he wanted money for dope and the parents did not give him any...................
Possibly. He was known to be a ‘cutter’ in his younger days...............
Well, as much as it pains me to say this, it looks like Meathead got his wish good and hard. Be careful what you wish for.
That was my guess too. The article said he didn't dress for a party --- he was desperate, came looking for them...
That’s what I was trying to put together.
Certainly, any blood drenched hotel guest would have been noticed. The writer just didn’t bother providing the actual sequence of events.
I would expect that hotel to lose a lot of bloodied up bedding. Perhaps the mattress and box spring cannot be salvaged. More practical to simply replace. The carpets, drapes, walls and other surfaces will need deep cleaning.
The Hotel Manager will probably send the bill to Rob’s estate. No telling when or if that particular debt will ever be resolved or even acknowledged. It’s not something most would be eager to discuss in any serious way. Future guests will probably never be told exactly which room Nick Reiner stayed in after his night of butchery. OR ...a small group that does want to know such facts might make that hotel room into a morbid sort of ‘museum’.
There are such people.
Son said that he and his father didn’t bond when he was a child, and that Rob Reiner wasn’t very good at conversation. He bemoaned not having a closer relationship.
This was in a recorded interview a few years back.
I think Rob was pursuing his obsession.
They will completely replace everything and get reimbursed by insurance(if they have it). Write it off as vandalism or damage by guest. I would guess people trash hotel rooms many times.
Not sure Robs estate could be charged for losses their son caused.
I wonder if he took a shower at his parent's home, and changed his clothes after he murdered them. That might explain why people at the hotel said they saw no sign of blood.
