Nice article.
I always tell people, Thanksgiving is by far the most underrated day of the year. (underrated holiday if you prefer)
In Hong Kong, I found that most Chinese could understand Thanksgiving, but most British didn’t.
One professor from the PRC, who’d lived through the starving times in the Cultural Revolution, who shared Thanksgiving with us, put it simply: “There is no better reason for a holiday than to celebrate the fact that you aren’t starving.”
What a fine, beautiful article. Just beautiful.
Thank you so much for posting it.
IMHO Thanksgiving is the Most American Holiday.
Wonderful post.
Thank you for posting this today. ☺️
What a refreshing piece written about America. Someone who looks past the politics and propaganda created to vilify the US and sees the heart and soul of the average American.
Kind of reminds me of de Tocqueville’s writing on America, which name (of the book) I can’t remember.
I was thankful to take off from FR and spend it all with lovex ones. Don’t hate me please, because guess what? I’m back. Lol
It’s about freedom. Gratitude comes later.
Great article. Thx for posting.
Wish we had boatloads of immigrants like this…
Lovely sentiments. Seems like a lovely woman.
Interestingly enough, the helpfulness from New Yorkers that she describes mirrors my own experiences on my 2 visits to London. My sister and I, both of us seniors, were just so pleasantly surprised by the kindness of young men who volunteered to help us with our luggage.
People were wonderful with giving directions. And those working in shops were determined to deliver top notch customer service.
Lord only knows what it is like now in Londonistan.....
