During the 1977 blackout my grandmother lived in the Pelham Pkwy section of the Bronx. With all the looting and mayhem around NYC that night it was of the few neighborhoods that were relatively unscathed. There were quite a few "alledged" wise guys living there at the time
The what? ๐ณ
My first knee jerk thought was that a socialist creates scarcity and scarcity creates a lucrative black market for those good at capitalizing on black markets.
Cadavere eccellente...?
if that were the only choice, I’d pick the mob in a heartbeat.
The mafia provided an outlet for those who believed they were disenfranchised. They would provide alternate police, control over certain neighborhoods, acquiescence from local pols and cops who are either sympathetic or paid off.
Of course, they have to be paid for such “insurance”.
I don’t know if the old model can work today.
The Dems and GOP are mobs, too. People use prettified phony names for them.
The Big Guy had to get his 10%. Hunter set up favors to foreign countries for the Biden boys to get money for influencing US policy against the American people’s interests.
Obamacare was going to be ended on Day One if the people voted for the GOP. Unless payoffs made that less profitable.
The AARP and health insurance CEOS went in to talk with Obama and came out unable to conceal their smiles as they sold out the American people.
Didn’t Guiliani take out the Mafia?
Mamdani has more power than the Mafia.
Mandummy would already be sleeping with the fishes...
The Mob is organized crime.
Government is organized crime.
This could be a gang war.
They’d buy him, like they did other RAT politicians.

Franzese and some Mafia members may feel that way, but historically, the Mafia has frequently helped left-wing labor unions and their political allies, as in the case of the Patriarca family and LIUNA supporting the Clintons, to take one of many examples. That said, Mamdani might not be good for business, which is the bottom line. It’s strictly business.
