My 32 year old mind says yes but my 72 year old body is saying "wait a minute..."

At 75 I’m happy to be able to climb out of the bathtub.

How can I destroy AI?

That would be my question.

You might as well read the short story instead

Suicide by mountain?

Sounds final, but I’m sure there are cheaper alternatives. Then again, you can’t take it with you!

As of December 2024, the total number of successful summits of Mount Everest (on all routes) is 12,884, achieved by 7,269 different people.

Stamina and lots of oxygen. Some serious mountaineering experience is desirable.

I believe the cutoff age is 65 for Everest these days. I got into mountaineering late in life. I was in my 50’s. Never really thought much about the big mountains. Not enough money or time.
At 67, I still head out to Colorado after Christmas for 2 months of ice climbing. Try to get a couple of 14’s in mixed alpine conditions in the spring. You can still experience the mountains in the winter at your age. Just stay on the 5000 meter and less peaks.

If you're going to risk your life doing something dangerously stupid, make it something unique and meaningful.
No one cares if yet another egomaniac staggers to the top of Everest. It's been done already.
Think of something else.

Was “train” on the list? Because that’s the only way I’d be climbing Mt. Everest.

Have you seen the LINES of climbers waiting at the summit these days? I thought this photo was a joke when I first saw it, but it's the real deal. Conquering Everest used to be celebrated as the ultimate grueling test of Man over Nature. Looks a bit more like standing in line for the Matterhorn at Disneyland lately :).

Hahahahaha!

Awesome! I am ready to go. Then, it is only when I am near the top, that I find some key thing was left out by AI...and my body is there as a mile marker for years until the snow completely covers it...:)

My bad!

Heck. It has turned into a tourist attraction anyway-I Photoshopped the hot dog stand, but this image is real with all the people there!

LOL, in this case, Grok told me to bring my crampons, but no yellow mustard!

I’ll do it. When there’s an escalator. With pee breaks every mile or so. And beer stands. Lots of beer stands.
