SNAP/EBT going to end November 1 unless Democrats cave.

Rest of items at the link provided - looks like sugar water companies will be hardest hit.

Soft drinks are often a kind of currency with these folks.
Bought not to drink, but to trade.

Like everything government does, whether housing, student loans, mortgages, health care, vaccines - prog/socialist “good intentions” actually produce very absurd and often unexpected, side effects.

always corruption and theivery

but In this case - also obsesity.

I’ve had renters who existed by buying the most expensive meats and trading those for cash at cents on the dollar. They spent the cash on beer, pot and cigarettes. I’m pretty sure they had more cards than they were allowed.

For those who say, “why didn’t you report them?” You have to have hard evidence. You can’t just say they told you what they were doing. Also, my take on the various agencies is the people you’d deal with don’t want to hear it. The more “clients” they have the better their budget gets.

Fast food joints accept them. That’s the problem. They want the business. Can you blame them? Will RFK Jr bite the bullet and make that announcement? Me thinks it’s 50-50.

SNAP Benefits should be Amazon Groceries for cooked meals. Beans, rice, pasta, peanut butter, flour, yeast, drink mixes, milk, cheese, potatoes, etc.....

Some welfare people also have hidden sources of income, selling drugs, shoplifting, prostitution, burglary, flea markets, handman type work, little side hustles, there are tons of ways that people make cash off the books, and if income is off the books, then they can qualify for food stamps and other assistance, that crowd is where so many of the anecdotes about food stamps come from.

Absolutely should cut off acceptance of EBT at fast food joints.

It's not all bad. Hamburger and chicken are frugal, milk/formula, cheese, bread, juice.

Your last point is 100% correct. The apparatchiks in charge of handing out these benefits have zero interest in exposing fraud, are ideologically aligned with progressive-theft, and self-interested in keeping their bureaucracies running.

I know very wealthy people (in my case, Ivy League college students) who simply walk in, declare they have no income, and are given EBT, no questions asked

Why DIMSHILL, do you lie so badly? Never mind. I know why.

SNAP is not accepted at fast food joints. You can not even buy hot food at the deli in the supermarket.

Will RFK Jr bite the bullet and make that announcement?

Announce what DIMSHILL? That you still can't do something that you never could?

My sister's first job out of college was verifying eligibility for welfare in Manhattan. She worked for the state. At the time New York City had a six month residency requirement (which judges soon declared unconstitutional). They came in pregnant off buses from Alabama. New York City was a welfare magnet. Twenty years ago they would drive into Rochester, NY and ask cops "Where da welfare office?" No wonder the state and city are basket cases. In my sister's day they at least tried to sort it out.

WRONG! Top item purchased with food stamp money: IES Integrated Eligibility System of Deloitte.
Top item purchased with TANF, WIC, sEC8 money: IES of Deloitte.
One of the top items purchased with Medicaid money: IES.

There is WFA-Waste, Fraud, Abuse among those who claim to be poor. But Deloitte and similar are the big problem.

“SNAP is not accepted at fast food joints.”

EBT was accepted at every McDonald’s and Jack in the Box I used in California.

Soft drinks and bagged snacks are the only junk food on that list.

Hamburger, milk, cheese, bread, cereal.

Perhaps in exchange for saying capping SNAP benefits at $2/day/person, paid in daily so there is no monthly feast & famished cycle, the PPACA might have the original subsidy formula Obamacare the first six months of 2026, then Chuck’s subsidy formula the last six months of 2026.

Then phase Chuck’s formula out one month per subsequent year.

December 2032 would be the last month for Chuck’s formula. By then, most PPACA recipients would have received some care and would see a need to pay a little something for health care cost coverage.

Within a few months of capping SNAP, the demand and federal spending for insulin and Ozempic would drop sharply.

Note for $28 (the weekly $2/day amount for two people), one can buy:
two pounds of chicken for ~$5,
four pounds of pasta for ~$4,
seven cans of vegetables for ~$5,
a gallon of milk for ~$3,
two loaves of bread for ~$3,
a box of cereal (or a bag of fruit) for ~$3,
and still have ~$5 left over for say buying
a 10-pound bag of potatoes one week
a bag of sugar and 100 tea bags another week
a pound of butter and two boxes of store brand macaroni & cheese another week
12 eggs and two boxes of cake mix yet another week.

aI stand corrected on SNAP at fast food joints. I’ve seen too many accept EBT card signs at pizza joints.

DIMSHILL? You really need to lighten up. I’m having fun here just like our favorite President.
