Reddit decided to ban all user-to-user sales and/or trades of firearms parts or accessories. The sale or trade of firearms was already banned on Reddit. This rule took effect on October 9th, 2025. The announcement also bans the subreddit r/RetroARMarket completely.
According to Wikipedia, Reddit was the seventh most visited website on the planet as of February 2025. Over 50% of the traffic comes from the United States, about 7 percent each from the UK and Canada, then about 4% from Australia and Germany at 3%. The rest is split among numerous other countries. It appears service is worldwide except for China and Indonesia. People who have DNS service in Indonesia are said to be able to access the site.
In the notification of the change in rules, no reason is given for the change. From the notification:“This means that on and after this date, communities will not be permitted to allow user to user transactions involving any firearm parts or enhancements. Discussions, reviews , links to external licensed vendors, and user to user transactions involving items such as holsters, safes, or other non-enhancing items are still allowed.”
People in the affected subreddits are unhappy with the rule change.

“there are a few technical forums there I don’t have a replacement for”
Agreed.
Their Cuban cigar forum is the only one I ever found that accurately reviewed (including timely updates) legitimate sources that shipped to the US.
There is no way I could have accumulated my collection without their guidance.
These days their advice is don’t do it. Customs is all over the stuff right now.
Folks will keep trying so there are daily updates on status.
Who/what is Reddit and why should I care?
[BTW, thanks for all you do for Real Americans!]
I’m amazed this even existed there in the first place to be banned.
It is a filthy site.
What is a “reddit”, something said by a frog with a speech impediment?
General Reddit is a dumpster fire. But…there are some specialty “subs” that can be helpful. You have to get away from the political stuff.
You also have to remember that a lot of the people on there are kids. Aside from reading about what you are there for there is no reason to engage them.
Reddit - The toilet of the internet.

how is it possible for a business to be so incredibly stupid?
