Reddit decided to ban all user-to-user sales and/or trades of firearms parts or accessories. The sale or trade of firearms was already banned on Reddit. This rule took effect on October 9th, 2025. The announcement also bans the subreddit r/RetroARMarket completely.
According to Wikipedia, Reddit was the seventh most visited website on the planet as of February 2025. Over 50% of the traffic comes from the United States, about 7 percent each from the UK and Canada, then about 4% from Australia and Germany at 3%. The rest is split among numerous other countries. It appears service is worldwide except for China and Indonesia. People who have DNS service in Indonesia are said to be able to access the site.
In the notification of the change in rules, no reason is given for the change. From the notification:“This means that on and after this date, communities will not be permitted to allow user to user transactions involving any firearm parts or enhancements. Discussions, reviews , links to external licensed vendors, and user to user transactions involving items such as holsters, safes, or other non-enhancing items are still allowed.”
People in the affected subreddits are unhappy with the rule change.

No wonder, Reddit is a garbage dump for the Left.
A good chunk of Reddit users are teenagers. And people outside the US.
The liability to Reddit for facilitating firearms sales of any kind would be astounding. From a business perspective I absolutely understand this move.
What WILL Trantifa do?
This has been Craigslist policy forever.
I got kicked off the Nextdoor app for telling the truth about joe biden.
“Terms of service”
If that’s what they wanna do, whatever.
Most gun enthusiasts use the Guntrader or Gunbroker apps anyway.....I know I do.
A friend of mine told me about it 4 years ago. Things you can discuss on Reddit: ABDL, Transgender, DDLB, Hating Republicans, Hating Trump among other crazy things.
Those you are allowed to discuss, but guns? No....
Trashy place...
That wouldn’t really stop firearm production either. Firearms are simple devices that were invented a long time ago. I could make one without plans myself. Not pretty, but functional.
Yes, you could make one. So could I.
We already have the knowledge.
Reddit???
What is that?
The genie is out of the bottle for a lot of things.
Worse than Quora?
Nearly every search engine has been tuned to prioritise YouTube and Reddit content on top of better results.
This also is intended and is a real PITA even searching for boring mundane content like a recipe or such.
Anytime I do a search these days, I get Reddit-ed. At least it is fairly easy to ignore it (at least for now, he said nervously).
“”No one on Reddit will be allowed to facilitate user-to-user transactions involving firearms parts and enhancements. Even specific instructions, such as those for 3D printing files to create such items, are prohibited.””

Meanwhile... back at the reality ranch... nobody is advocating for banning the sale of sharp weapons like knives, hatchets, machetes or axes ... especially to radical, jihadi-minded Muslims. Because that would be wrong, bigoted and racist! I’m surprised they’re not publishing “how to” and “DIY” instruction booklets for how to slice & dice your nearest infidel (Jihadi Slaughter For Dummies).
I just got new computer with Linux...been using firefox, and your posts made me think...I don’t notice reddit results so much anymore, as with Brave. May stick with Firefox...but looking at other search engines.
You told me about MeWe and the primer info.
I got all the necessary stuff, but evidently MeWe has been sold. Might be off shore. The original source of primer info is still on web.
It appears web forums that don’t try to pry into your private life, are quickly disappearing from the web.
Credit card companies are still trying to lump reloading and firearms related items in with high risk sites and are blocking transactions. They ease up for a while, then they come back trying to stop flow.
The old solid reloading sites are still functioning. Supply is pretty good.
I recently re-read a book published in 1988 (Stranger in the Forest) about adventures in Borneo, in the early - mid 1980’s.
The forest tribesmen, at that time, were reloading shotgun shells and repriming primers using homemade black powder and matchhead priming compound.
Their techniques may have advanced over the last four decades.
A left wing website bans guns. *snicker* Lefties are half the gun market.
It sucks, but there are a few technical forums there I don’t have a replacement for.
Politically it is complete Leftist trash. The management should have been sued into oblivion by the shareholders when they banned r/The_Donald in 2016. It was the biggest sub on Reddit at the time.
Thanks, my friend. Interesting.
I have not done much reloading in past few months. Too busy getting things ready to move to the house at the farm.
It will take me more than a year to get all the shops and barns there in shape. But I still like to shoot.
Only like a few details there and we can function, and sell the one in town.
