Egypt to award Trump its highest state honour during visit

US President Donald Trump is set to receive Egypt’s highest state honour, the Order of the Nile, during his visit to the country to attend a Gaza peace summit, the presidential office said on Monday.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi will award the decoration in recognition of Trump’s "distinguished contributions to supporting peace efforts, defusing conflicts, and most recently, his pivotal role in ending the war in Gaza."

The Order of the Nile is a gold collar made up of three square segments featuring pharaonic symbols.

It has previously been awarded to Nelson Mandela, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and most recently, Spain’s King Felipe VI.

Trump and al-Sissi are set to host a summit to consolidate the process to end the Gaza war in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh later on Monday. Nearly 20 world leaders are expected to attend.

Thank you. I saw the accolades he paid to both those men...that General Caine is really some guy - lucky to have him instead of the ones we had in the Biden admin...but then, everything was better then.

No, this was very close to when the president was “winding down”,(does he ever?), said he was nearly through and talked about a woman whose name I didn’t get and a couple of men, I think...I couldn’t get to the TV from the kitchen fast enough to learn what all the applause was for. It was very loud and prolonged so it had some meaning and I’m just curious....Maybe I’ll run into it online today....
