Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent appears on CNBC to discuss the second full day of the government shutdown and the potential ramifications therein.
Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought is meeting with President Trump today to discuss the facets of the government that will be closed and for the duration therein. Secretary Bessent is asked if the furloughs will be a long-term feature of the backfire created by the Democrat strategy.
Bessent reemphasizes he personally joined the Trump administration to shrink the scale of government spending, and the administration is not going to flinch on any CR agreement that backtracks on existing spending reductions. WATCH:

If you can’t pay for your stuff, you need less stuff.
The Democrats are handing Trump a tremendous opportunity. Sounds like the Trump Admin is going to make the most of it. I sure hope so.
Republicans should not budge an inch. No compromise. Cut and cut and cut until the Democrats just cave and give us the bill that the House has approved.
The Democrats use government as a weapon to punish their enemies and reward their friends. Its basically the old spoils system on steroids. Republicans need to recognize that Democrats are fighting to preserve this power base and take that weapon away from them. Trump has made good progress so far in cutting the massively politicized bureaucracy down to size, but there’s still much more to do.
They keep using that F-word as if they can will President Trump into not separating anyone with RIFs.

Oh wow… We’re on day two already? I hadn’t noticed
I love Scott Bessent!
Dear Democrats: You’ve got mail!
FIRE AT WILL!!!!
Only people furloughed notice, they are 95% Democrats.
Bessent may be the best of the pack.
