Biker Decapitates Himself When Running From state Trooper in ford mustang GT

Once I was safely across the intersection, I continued to pursue the motorcycle. The motorcycle approached a white Ford 150 traveling north on State Route 23 and attempted to pass it. The driver's helmet struck the driver's mirror on the Ford F-150 and he lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle traveled off the left shoulder of State Route 23 and struck the ditch drain. After impact with the drain, the motorcycle vaulted into the air, struck a tree, and the driver was thrown off the motorcycle. The driver was thrown across Burton Street and into a barrier in the parking lot of the post office. The driver struck the barrier, and was decapitated. When I pulled in the entrance of the post office, I observed the driver's head and motorcycle to the left of the barrier and his body to the right of the barrier, near the front door of the post office.

Decapitated yes, but his brain’s still protected safe by his helmet.

Now on a more serious note,
these police chases on the roadways, highways....
often involve high speeds and quick or even dangerous maneuvers

and sometimes result in crashes, deaths and/or serious
injuries (sometimes innocent bystanders get run over or maimed, too)

I am on the law enforcement side but -— with today’s advanced technologies especially — how many of these dangerous car chases are really necessary? And if any are still “necessary” — would it be okay to limit them to the most serious sorts of situations (not lifting a six pack from the 7/11 or?)

Am I on a reasonable path here or maybe I’m totally off?
Thanks for any ideas, inputs...

yes, I realize that police officers are skilled, trained drivers but that isn’t, can’t be enough to prevent crashes in high speed chases..

gee, all it took was one dedicated police officer in a car and a motorcycle.... there are lots of both in modern America.....to .... obsolete Dr. Joseph-Ignace Guillotin’s great invention.

is nothing scared anymore?

If he had a helmet on and the undertaker is good, his family can still have an open casket funeral.

A pastor friend of mine was killed while he and his wife were on his motorcycle. Someone coming from the opposite direction attempted to pass a vehicle and pulled right out in front of him. He had no chance and was killed on impact. His wife survived but was thrown off the bike and flew forwards, breaking both legs from the knees down. She was wheelchair bound for months until she recovered.

My friend loved motorcycles and was just out for a joyride when an idiot ended his life and shattered his wife's. Good thing he was a minister and a faithful follower of Christ or else this story's ending would be even more tragic.

My dad was really against motorcycles.

My grandfather was a motorcycle cop in Paterson, NJ. He died of complications from a motorcycle accident when my dad was 12.

My uncle (Dad’s brother) crashed his motorcycle and slid in gravel for about 50 yards. It took the doctors about 6 hours to remove all the gravel from his skin.

When I was a wee lad we had a station wagon with a metal luggage rack on top. Some genius on a motorcycle rear ended the car while Dad sat at a stop light. The rider went over his handlebars and his head hit the metal bar of the luggage rack. He flipped over the car and landed on the hood, on his back, with his exposed brain on display towards the windshield.

Needless to say I was forbidden from riding motorcycles, ever. While away at college I got a moped to be able to get across campus in time for classes. Dad had a fit. My next birthday they bought me a car.
