Consequently, Trump’s technical team has sought to create a loophole, according to 4 sources familiar with discussions on the matter. Turkey will remove a component from the S-400 and declare it ‘inoperable’.

It would be the anti-aircraft system equivalent of rendering a rifle inoperable by removing the bolt or taking the firing pin out of other firearms.

If it is that easy to make the S-400 inoperable then it is that easy to make it operable again, and I am sure Erdogan will do so when it suits him, contrary to the agreement he is making today.

If I were POTUS I’d move all U.S. forces out of Turkey and make no deals of any kind with it.

I think the active nuclear devices have been removed but the bombs are still there.

The again, the B61 bomb cases are also sitting on display in museums

Turns out to be the Battery Power saving mode was activated, adding a delay to the touch. Sort of like “keybounce’ back im the good old CRT days. When we were kings and wizards”

It doesn’t make any sense to give or sell F-35s to the present Turkish government. What in the world will prevent some “rogue“ Turkish pilot from flying one of them to Iran, or to Russia. Turkey borders, both of those countries, and it could easily be pre-arranged. Erdegon and the present Turkish government are not our friends by any stretch of the imagination. This is a monumentally stupid move.

“What in the world will prevent some “rogue“ Turkish pilot from flying one of them to Iran, or to Russia. Turkey borders, “

Turkey has never turned over any sensitive information.

Turkey was a partner in F-35 development.

Which NATO country has shot down a Russian plane,

arming Turkey, at least while it is under an Islamicist government that has invaded or threatened nearly all of its neighbors, has to be one of the dumbest — and most dangerous...we’ve been doing

the very last thing we should do is give/sell them advanced aircraft like the 35’s

the very last thing!

may the day come soon when the Turkish people get a new, peaceful (and sane) government. Then, we can consider whatever seems reasonable...

Everything you say is about the past - but Erdegon has gotten more and more radically anti-Western as time goes on. I would not, if I were in Trump’s position or advising him, be willing to risk the technology in the F-35s on the hope that Erdegon will adhere to Western moral standards and contract law when, in fact, he is a Moslem whose faith demands that he lie to infidels in order to gain an advantage over them. I just don’t trust the SOB.

Better have a kill switch we can throw to make it inoperable.
