He was fired because his ratings were in the tank and he became a liability more than an asset. The fight to keep him wasn’t worth the effort since he probably would have been cancelled in the near future anyway, just like his pal Colbert whose show is not renewed past its April ending date............................

He exercised his right to free speech and then his employer exercised their right to free speech, what could be more perfect??

Cancel Culture was used against Republicans for simply being conservative.

The Democrats now being cancelled are because of their abhorrent behavior and that’s the key difference.

“But should the government be involved in calling for Disney to fire Kimmel?”
Government officials have 1st Amendment rights too. As long as they don’t threaten to use their official powers, in anyway, they should be able to speak their mind.

In any case, we should not want public officials pressuring companies to fire or discipline people for their First Amendment protected speech--even when it's false.

We shouldn't but we do - Democrats are all-in on censorship. If we stick to principle while the other side sticks to dogma, their side wins. Simple as that. The only way to convince Democrats of the virtues of free speech is to make them feel the pain of the alternative.

The CLAIM is over him calling the shooter “MAGA”, although I thought the “Goldfish” comment was worse.

They have every right to fire him.

That said, I do agree, and thought this prior to reading this, we should not have the FCC threatening to pull licenses over free speech - claiming it “not accurate”. If we set that as a precedent I can only imagine what the D’s will do when they’re in office next.

Let the marketplace sort it out. We have slander and libel laws already.

And it’s within our First Amendment right to call for Disney to fire Kimmel.

But should the government be involved in calling for Disney to fire Kimmel?

No.

But, the government licenses the public air waves to private companies. Should these private companies then have total control over these public airwaves? What about all the rest of us?

I was just going to say Kimmel has a team of writers
Not one said, hey Jimmy before you say MAGA..there is proof the shooter is a gay leftie with tranny boyfriend
My point is, they all knew but opted to willfully lie & slander anyway to protect their gay, trans cult
This is long overdue, Kimmel is awful

This is what we have all been told for decades! Turn the other cheek! Don’t come down to their level! You may hate the speech but you have to defend the other person’s right to say it! I could go on. IMO, this is why we are where we are as a nation. The left has been pushing the envelope so far that lying by MSM, politicians and even TV personalities has been normalized and accepted. We don’t have to accept it anymore and we are speaking out about it and fighting to bring us all back to sanity and stopping the propaganda.

Didn’t Trump call for the broadcast license of CBS to be pulled and the FCC to issue the strongest possible fines and punishments re: segments on Greenland and Ukraine that cast him in a negative light (arguably) ?

“Did he know when he said it that it was false? I don’t know.”

He saw what one of his writers wrote for him and liked it. No vetting, no intellectual curiosity - just libtard behavior.

Schumer demanded Fox stop airing Tucker. Now Schumer cries for Kimmel. Kimmel can spew all he wants on his own channel.

If the country is evenly split, why is media/academia allowed to be 90-10 dem?

Smells like a need for "affirmative action".

Exactly, he needs to work for himself.
