Hello Freepers! Moments ago another track and its accompanying video off my upcoming fourth album, "Commandment," which is a concept album based on the Ten Commandments, was released. The track is a remake of the Pet Shop Boys hit single, "It's a Sin." I did the vocals on it and also played bass, drums and keys. The guitars were done by Mighty Mike Fitzgerald and some background vocals were done by the very talented Giovanna Saverino. Mixed and mastered at Palace Soundworks, Italy. I hope you enjoy it! Pingaroo!
Impressive.
+1
Pretty good. Different sins than mine, but still relevant.
Very good musical remake and as always, excellent graphics.
The “sins of the flesh” are mainly referring to Laz. . .
Thanks! Glad you dug it!
Thank you! An absolute sh*tload of work went into producing it but, as usual, I thoroughly enjoyed doing it.
A+ song with another A+ given for the video accompaniment.
Congratulations! I think it’s perfectly timely and am impressed with how it all works together. I happen to like the style of guitar you used - it is less growly that many and I like it - it doesn’t dominate or get in the way of vocals. Sounds smooth.
The topic is certainly timely and the video expresses the lyrics well. All over, congratulations, Rocco! Thank you for the ping! :D
Terrific! Thanks for sharing it.
Sin is sin. God doesn’t differentiate.
I went back and listened to the original. Im sure I deleted the memory of that song during one of the times I was rebooted because the original is crap. His voice is weak, irritatingly whiny, and begging "please, slap me to death". That incessant KMart keyboard looping would have made me want to smash the TV.
Your vocals are better for this type of song. Youve changed the whole tone not just with the visuals but the character and emotion conveyed. That alt/pop sound that you removed was terribly cringy at the time, Im pretty sure it will go down in history as a similar auditory disaster to whatever this 60s experimental sound was supposed to be (Yeah, whose baby are you?).
Finally adding the guitar solo that should have always been there is a huge improvement. Giving it that little injection of hard rock testosterone really butches the whole thing up and puts it way over the top.
This version I deffinitely could have on my playlist. Did you have much to do with the prompts used to make the video? Im only asking because a couple of the characters look rather close to some real actors. The image of post debauchery despair is so realistic compared to what Ive seen and experienced along with the similarity of that character with one of those in HARDCORE SUPERSTAR - Into Debauchery (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) makes me wonder if it was intentional?
Sorry, I was distracted and that didnt entirely make sense...
The story told visually from 0:26-0:40 in particular.
Nice Rocco!
Only Jesus' blood does that.
I'm sorry, I don't mean to come off so harsh, it's just how much I need Jesus, kwim?
What is "kwin?" I didn't write this song - it's a remake of a Pet Shop Boys tune that was a hit in the '80s. Of course there's always "hope" but sin does not have a happy ending - it destroys your soul, and often your body. The song's about sin; the cycle of sin we humans can't escape while on this earth; the guilt that makes us seek forgiveness and redemption for it.
I don't write literal, pedantic Christian Rock. But I do work Judeo- Christian themes and concepts into my music. Make of that as you wish.
Thank you for having taken the time to watch and listen. Much appreciated.
Easy and enjoyable music to listen to. Great video to go with it. Like the black and white.
The original was reflective of the '80s British synth-pop genre. Very typical for back then with its wall of cheesy analog synth sounds.
I liked the song itself but wasn't crazy about the arrangement of the original. We've recently decided to do one cover per album, a practice which started with the last one on which we did a cover of a Bowie tune. I'd originally picked Steely Dan's "Do It Again," but then decided on this one because I felt it would be a better fit for the upcoming album. And I thought it would be cool to turn it into a no bullshit rocker.
As far as the vid goes no AI was used to produce it. Those clips are generic stock videos that I selected and then arranged for effect. The video end of things always takes a lot of thought, time and effort to pull off.
I love the whole process, whether it's the production planning, songwriting, tracking, mixing and mastering and everything else that goes into the enitre endeavor. It's a blast!
