We had a screwworm infestation back in the 70s, the Govt let loose sterile female screwworm flies. The problem eventually went away.

I remember that. Mostly Arizona and New Mexico iirc. Probably from cattle wandering across the Mexican border.

I remember that.
There were some bulls I got on in the chute and their backs were covered in lumps.
