*** I absolutely hate the spam political text messages and the deceit on which so many are based. Responding with “Stop” only seemed to confirm the senders had found me and enabled them to keep them coming from different numbers.
Apple seems to have a remedy ahead:
In early June, Apple announced a new feature through its forthcoming iOS 26 software that will allow iPhone users to screen messages from “unknown senders.” That will automatically place texts from such senders, starting in mid-September, in a separate folder without notifying the recipients.”
Woo hoo! Let it be. I can’t wait.

Unfortunately I have an Android phone. I assume Android phones will put this feature in eventually.
AMEN!!!
I still get 8-10 texts a day from various WinRed affiliated causes. I always delete and report junk without reading them, but I now make it a point never to give to any cause or candidate which requests a cell number.
I am sufficiently concerned about leftists trolling conservatives with supposed Trump links in order to harm us with malware, I NEVER respond so such texts, no matter who they are supposedly from.
Aside from all the hustler/sales texts, I’m surprised at how much companies and doctors and such that you do business with, want to sent constant texts to you for no real reason, with no real message, it is as though shallow thinkers see the tech available and feel that they should be filling the space with something.
Dont speak to telemarketers or telescammers. They can record your voice to duplicate to scam others in your contact list.
My wife and I are so finished with responding to anyone who texted us for help.
We have sent back many hundreds of STOPs to be removed, and when they respond, they say their campaign won’t use that number with us, again.
So they send it out on a different phone number or they may have a new campaign name, but for the same attention whore candidate. The same holds true for emails. You remove yourself and they just make a new email campaign. The one you just removed yourself from was “GOP-E Suckers 1.” The next campaign you remove yourself from is “”GOP-E Suckers 2,” and so on.
There is never any way to be respected and just not contacted again. WinRed is nearly always the site you are sent to—and WinRed clearly states in its Privacy Policy that your contact information will be freely given to the world and you can’t stop it. At least Anedot plays fair in their Privacy Policy.
The root seems to be WinRed, but Trump’s campaign surely spams your stuff out, to annoy the heck out of you.
Yep, I tell them no texts, they can send me an email. So much for the no call log - total failure. Government at its best.
If it comes from a democrat I always reply TRUMP
I got the latest text scam today
Telling my car registration and drivers license will be revoked if I don’t pay my ( isn’t one ) traffick ticket TODAY.
I get the craziest texts - political and personal.
It's a weird world we live in. It's weirder when you are a Democrat.
It would seem a simple fix, that whomever sends something from a specific number could be traced and prosecuted. Apparently not - maybe AI will solve it for us.
In particular, never say “Yes” to anything they say.
Outlook does this..................
I don’t text, and I demand emails, and like you pointed out, they just plow ahead with their own automated lives.
You’d better hop to it!
For political text messages from anyone, I use this:
Upon the first message, I insist that they stop in strong words.
If I get another, I then say something close to: “I asked you to stop. I am now considering campaigning for the opposite of whoever or whatever you are pushing. Continue to use my phone number, and I will not only campaign, I will fundraise for the opposition.”
That usually makes them stop.
And banks and credit accounts and retirement accounts
