Another day, another leak.
CNN and The Washington Post on Wednesday reported that sources say the Pentagon Inspector General has ‘evidence’ that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s Signal chat included classified information from Central Command.
The Pentagon Inspector General expanded his investigation into Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s use of the double-encrypted app Signal in May.
Steven Stebbins took over as Acting Inspector General after President Trump fired the previous IG and 17 other inspectors general.
Stebbins was first appointed to his position in 2015.
Pete Hegseth has been under heavy attack since before his confirmation hearing and the leaks keep coming.
The Pentagon Inspector General expanded his probe following The Wall Street Journal’s reporting on Hegseth’s wife and brother participating in Signal chat groups.
Pete Hegseth was blamed for not noticing Jeffrey Goldberg was added to the Signal chat group with other high-level Trump Administration officials.
.....Snip....
CNN reported:
The Pentagon’s inspector general has received evidence that the military plans shared from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s Signal account to a group chat earlier this year were taken from a US Central Command document that was marked classified at the time, according to two people familiar with the ongoing review.
The Pentagon watchdog, which launched a review in April of Hegseth’s use of the commercial messaging app to share information related to US military operations in Yemen, obtained the document in the early days of its investigation, the sources said. The document was marked Secret/NOFORN, meaning no foreign nationals should see it.

You mean they tried a fake news hoax on Trump for years and years, and now they’re trying another one on Pete Hegseth?

"Stebbins was first appointed to his position in 2015." Another obamy minion, still in a position of power!
How many times does Trump need to be stabbed in the back by "brutus" before he gets his "selection/evaluation" act together?

Even if Hegseth did let slip some piece of classified info, there’s a difference between doing it by accident and doing it on purpose (that would be the Obama-Biden crowd).

why does the secret service get to cover up all kinds of illegal activity in the whitehouse and other areas and an I. G. office blabs the minutia of its inspections to the media.

“”...and Trump is tired of others trying to ‘shape’ his administration.””
Shape, hell... they’re trying to marginalize his administration by eliminating his best and most dependable cabinet members... ie those that are most threatening to their leftist agenda. Think of Hegseth as one of Trump’s knights on a chess board. They get rid of him and they get closer to ‘getting’ the king.

Time for the Administration to remove the pentagon IG and all his embedded lackies.

This is the left trying to create a counter-scandal to change the narrative from Obama, Brennan, Clapper, and Comey's seditious conspiracy against the incoming Trump presidency.
Elsewhere, I had predicted a five-pronged strategy that the Democrats would employ. So far, three of them are underway. The five prongs are:
- The Democrats will start making wild accusations against President Trump and his top Cabinet officers (as if they aren't doing that now) in order to retake the news cycle narrative. They will concoct new scandals against each of them to try to force them out of office, just like they already tried with AG Bondi and Epstein and DNI Gabbard and Iran and Hegseth and Signal. They are already chumming the waters for Patel and Bongino, but that wave may have passed.
- Just today at the White House press briefing, CNN's Kaitlin Collins tried to insinuate that the the only reason DNI Gabbard released the declassified information was that she lost favor with Trump over Iran and she was trying to "improve her standing with the President after he said that Gabbard's intelligence assessments were wrong."
Karoline Leavitt put Collins in her place.
Leavitt said "Who's saying that the only reason is that she's trying to improve her standing with the President?"
Collins said "The President himself told me on Air Force One 'she's wrong, she doesn't know what she's talking about.'"
Leavitt pushed back and said "The only people who are pushing that narrative are the people here in this room, who are trying to sow discord within the Cabinet. I'm with President Trump every day and I can tell you that he has complete confidence in his Cabinet members and his entire team."
- The Democrats will start running to the district courts to get injunctions on the Trump administration's release of future documents. They will claim election interference going in to the 2026 mid-terms. They will seek gag orders, recusals, abuse of processes, illegal access to documents, politicizing legitimate dissent, and the Democrat favorite, weaponizing government against their enemies (the Democrat projection onto others).
- The Democrats will look for a counter-scandal. They will find a "whistleblower" like Vindman to make unfounded accusations against Trump, and then insist that this is the critical thing to focus on and that Obama is "old news."
- The story in this thread falls here. As I said at the top of this post, Democrats are trying to create a counter-scandal to change the narrative from Obama, Brennan, Clapper, and Comey's seditious conspiracy against the incoming Trump presidency.
- The Democrats will accelerate trying to retake the House and the Senate in order to stop the investigations from advancing to indictments. The House is vulnerable because the margin is so thin, but the interests are so stark that the rebellious Republicans might get in line on this issue. The documented rightward shift of almost all the counties in the country might suggest that Republicans pick up many more House seats once the news of Democrat seditious activity begins to permeate the news cycles.
The Senate is a different organism, where winnable seats have been lost (or purposefully discarded) due to Mitch McConnell's need for sychophants in his camp. With McConnell's retirement and the new Thune leadership in control, a more open strategy for supporting Senate campaigns may emerge that yield a pickup of seats in 2026.
- I think the upcoming mayoral election in New York City might be a bellwether event for clues to how this might play out. The fact that Hochul, Schumer, and Jeffries have not rushed to endorse Mamdani like the left-wing Democrats have suggests that they fear a real electoral backlash coming. If this scandal blows up in the way that Watergate did, it could set Democrat electoral chances back for decades like Watergate did for Republicans. The Mamdani election in NYC might be the canary in the coal mine on this.
- When the indictments eventually come down (assuming that a DC grand jury will provide them), the Democrats will rely on the corrupted district courts that are already hostile to President Trump personally, and his administration generally, to put a stop to "retaliation" against an historic "first black" Presidency that was just working the best it could with the information it had in an "emerging new technology" of cyber-crimes that we'd never seen before.

Hegseth did something he shouldn’t have, but he didn’t break the law. Unlike generals and Admirals who have unofficially done the same thing for eons, Hegseth is empowered by the president to determine what is classified and what isn’t for DoD information. It’s old news that would be declassified by now anyway (operational details like that cease to be classified after the fact).
The left and anti-trump folks just want to keep stirring the pot and distracting, and it’s not working this time when last administration it did work.

Why would anyone in an important position like that, use a chat site to communicate? That seems incredibly stupid.
