Flashback: Mom of NYC's Muslim Socialist Mayoral Candidate Declares 'He's Is Not an American at All'
Western Journal ^ | June 25, 2025 | Nick Givas

The mother of New York City’s Democrat Mayoral nominee, Zohran Mamdani, is on record saying that he doesn’t even consider himself American — as the young socialist gets ready to potentially take over America’s largest city..

Hindustan Times back in 2013 quoted Mamdani’s mother Mira, a filmmaker, as saying: “He is a total desi. Completely. We are not firangs at all. He is very much us. He is not an Uhmericcan (American) at all.”

(Desi is a term roughly meaning, “one from the country,” while “firangs” roughly translates to “outsiders.”)

...

He was born in Uganda, raised between India and America. He is at home in many places. He thinks of himself as a Ugandan and as an Indian.”

Mira also praised how her son chose to study Arabic and politics, while speaking “only Hindustani at home.”

...

this story sounds eerily similar to the rise of Barack Obama. We all know how his administration turned out, and what he left behind.

...

Where do Mamdani’s loyalties lie? Does he desire to institute globalism, like so many of his far-left allies?

....

He did everything in his power to earn the endorsement of the Democrat Socialists of America by: wanting to raise the minimum wage to $30-an-hour, create city-owned grocery stores, and

...

His plans for “queer liberation” include “defunding the police” which should be a major boost to the city’s rampant crime and lawlessness.

...

His most telling moment, however, came when he was asked about the term “globalize the intifada,” which is equated with taking the Palestinian uprising of 1987 worldwide.

...

This completes New York’s transformation from greatest city in the world, to a complete fringe element of the Democratic party. All in less than 25 years after the horrific terror attacks of September 11th.

Sliwa has zero chance. Absolutely zero chance.

I keep hearing the same message over and over again ("No chance Sliwa can win.") Given how similar and frequent the messages are, I figure it's part of a propaganda campaign run by the usual suspects.

This makes me think that Sliwa CAN win, and the usual suspects are scared to death of that possibility. The man got 28% of the vote against Adams in 2021. In a 3- or 4-way race, a little more than 28% could be enough to win it.

Does the NYC Mayor’s race require a 50% majority or a ranked choice vote? If so, he has no chance.

Nope. The candidate with the most votes wins. In a four-way race, Sliwa could win with 28% of the vote.

You seem to be blissfully unaware of NYC politics the last 30 years or so. Giuliani barely squeaked out victories over absolute losers. Bloomberg was a liberal who had to buy his way onto the Republican ticket. If you think Sliwa getting 28% of the vote is meaningful, I have a bridge to sell you. All that means is that Staten Island voted for him and nobody else did.

And enough with the "usual suspects" nonsense. If you have something to say, say it. The fact is, Mamdani is going to win unless there is a massive October surprise. And from there on out it will be chaos.

Looks like more than Staten Island to me.

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for a Republican to win the mayoral race in NYC. And yet, the same defeatist losers proclaim "It's hopeless" four months out from the election. That's why we lose.

So your point is basically, “3 out of 4 voters chose someone other than Sliwa a few years ago, but this time it’ll be different!” I may be a defeatist when it comes to Republicans winning in NYC but you are absolutely delusional.

If there are 3 other strong candidates in the race, there's a chance you can win with 25+1% of the vote. How hard is this?

"The poll shows Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani ahead of the pack with 35% of the vote, followed by former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in second with 25%, Curtis Sliwa in third with 14% — and Adams with a paltry 11%." - NY Post

There are too many choices. Moderate Dems are going to vote for either Cuomo or Adams. They will never vote for Sliwa. Moderate Republicans will vote for Cuomo or Sliwa or Adams. People who will vote for Mamdani will never vote for any of the other three candidates.

If it was just Mamdani against one other candidate, I would think we had a chance. But with three other candidates stealing votes from each other I do not see a path for anyone else.
