I will note that the removal of the tax on suppressors and SBRs destroys the Constitutionality of the law.

A recent video by youtuber "Colion Noir" states that several pro-2A groups have filed suit against the BATFags on the grounds that the registration of silencers, short-barreled rifles, and short-barreled shotguns is, absent a tax, unconstitutional.

Freeper bk1000: I paid into SS for nearly 50 years. It was not voluntary, but taken out of my pay before I received it. Now that it is my time to collect my payoff for all the years I paid for those before me I am told I must pay tax on that “income”?

Freeper TexasGator: Half of SS contributions are untaxed.

Sure 'nuff. And when we're working we're almost always in a higher tax bracket than later when we're collecting SS. So getting a tax break while working (in a higher tax bracket) usually more than makes up for having to make up for it by paying taxes later in retirement (in a lower tax bracket).

It's analogous to getting a tax break while working if you put money into a tax-deferred (traditional) 401K or IRA, knowing you'll have to pay income tax on it later when you retire and withdraw it (in a lower tax bracket). Except that usually with SS you're not collecting way more than you put in (though you usually do collect more than you put in, just not as much as an IRA or 401K has grown if you did simple research on how to invest it).

I’m sure Reagan hand was broken. He signed a bunch of crap and is always excused. None of the crap he signed is excusable. Sadly people give him too much shade.

If your Social Security payments exceed the old standard deduction, then yes, it does help with a higher standard deduction.

A three year tax benefit. Wow. Thanks GOP. That’s worth adding $6 trillion to the national debt. LOL.

They want it to be a campaign issue in ‘28.

Who is going to run on raising taxes on the elderly.

Politicians are reprehensible people.

This bill couldn’t do that. They can’t change the tax code in a reconciliation bill.

Half of SS contributions are untaxed.

And effectively "hidden" from you. For the employer, their contribution is part of your total compensation. While most people think only 6.2% is taken from them, it's actually 12.4%. There's just a little sleight of hand, with the employer forced to pay it on your behalf. SS taxation would be much more fair if 1/2 of your benefit was taxed, essentially the portion that wasn't already taxed. And apply it to every recipient, regardless of wealth.

“SS taxation would be much more fair if 1/2 of your benefit was taxed,”

Much of SS benefits are gains on the original contributions.

If I sell a stock that I bought with after-tax dollars, I have to pay taxes on those gains.

I am not trying to discuss what is fair, just making a comparison.

“I am not a political expert. But it seems to me that the budget bill was the first real chance of removing taxes from retirement”

Are you referring to the OBBB or the last budget bill.

Why are you still posting non-sensical democratic talking points?

“Politicians are reprehensible people.”

So are people that think they know it all but show in their posts just the opposite.

Makes as much sense as all the rest of the filthy, shameful IRS code.

“ The biggest beneficiaries of the bill”

The leftist media might spew out propaganda, but they are very careful with their wording. Note that the above phrase does not say anything about Social Security. Rather, it speaks about the entire bill.

The left always refers to total amounts of taxes reduced in such a bill. They never refer to the percentage of all taxes paid by the rich. Without the rich, we would be sunk. New York might be finding that out soon.

Numerous states also impose income taxes on SS benefits so seniors will get no relief there.

Gee, if you don’t like what I post…don’t read it.

Getting into internet arguments seems like it’s fun to you. Have a ball!

I have neither the time or inclination to engage any more than this.

Have a wonderful day.

What are you raging about? Did you miss your meds?

Have the nurse wheel you outside and touch some grass. You are way too angry.
