Maybe it's the insatiable need for attention, maybe it's the desperation felt by unimpressive also-rans to come up with anything provocative enough to generate some kind of reaction, or maybe it's the obnoxious preoccupation that DC-dwellers have with their own egos that prevents the exercise of basic human decency.
But whatever it is, the penchant far too many politicians demonstrate to crawl on top of freshly dead bodies - particularly those of innocent children - puff their chests out and use soul-searing pain as a perch for their own pet agenda remains one of the most deplorable social cancers plaguing American society.
The latest mutton-headed demagoguery that robbed shell-shocked families of even a moment to grieve and mourn without seeing their sorrow monetized, came in the wake of the flash-flooding tragedy that occurred in Texas over the weekend. As search and rescue operations were ongoing, bodies of children still being pulled - some dead, some alive - from the water, Connecticut's shameless junior Senator Chris Murphy decided the anguish would make a great arrow to fire at Donald Trump:
Despicable.
If Murphy were seriously suggesting that Donald Trump had anything to do with those poor people drowning in a natural disaster, his critical thinking deficiencies are disqualifying. But obviously everyone knows he doesn't really think that. Consider what that then means. He knows what he is saying isn't true, he knows that Donald Trump had nothing to do with this loss of life, but he's saying differently because he either wants attention, or wants to help his political movement's electoral fortunes, grieving families notwithstanding.
Like I said, despicable. Why do those who exhibit the lowest levels of class and dignity so often hold the highest positions of rank and power? It's a pox upon all of us.
The awful senator isn't alone, sadly. Here's Democrat political strategist and host of ABC's This Week, George Stephanopoulos deliberately lying on national television:
It's incomprehensible how the Democrat host actually thought he would get away with telling this obvious falsehood given that officials on both sides of the political aisle have already debunked it incessantly. Even the ABC host's fellow progressive activists at the Associated Press had reported the truth:
Moreover, here are the easily researched facts, compiled by the folks at WeatherBrains, about the lead-up to this tragedy:
A flash flood watch was issued for Kerr County at 12:41a CT (just after midnight Thursday night). The watch mentioned isolated rain amounts of 10 inches, and stated "Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks." This followed a flash flood watch that was issued Thursday afternoon.
A flash flood warning was issued at 1:14a CT For Kerr County, which mentioned "life threatening flash flooding of creeks, streams, and rivers".
A flash flood "emergency" was issued at 5:34a CT for Kerr County and the Guadalupe River. NWS Austin/San Antonio had five on staff during the event; normally two would be on duty. Extra staffing was planned before the event started.
This type of flash flooding on the Guadalupe River is nothing new. Similar events happened in 1998, 1978, 1935, and 1921. This year's event was related to deep moisture from a tropical system (Barry) that originated in the East Pacific and made landfall near Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, on June 29.
There's no explanation for why ABC's This Week doesn't have enough staff to find that information if I am capable of doing it within five minutes of sitting down at a keyboard.
At this point, it's fairly self-evident how this tragedy unfolded. The warnings were there, but they came in overnight in an area with spotty cell service, on a holiday weekend, in a flood-prone area, where people are used to getting "warnings" that never materialize into anything of this magnitude. It was a worst-case scenario that has come with consequences that are difficult enough to bear on their own.
That our culture must do so while also being baited by the self-serving ignorance of those with power and platforms is unconscionable. We all deserve better.
TDS + desperation + no morals.
People who think this way are not good people.
Glad D.C. has sunny weather every day of the year. As with everything, they are clueless once again. Sick and tired of their continuous Trump’s fault! DOGE’s fault! NWS’s fault! Little stompy feet haters is all they are.
They haven’t realized over 20 counties have been declared disaster zones not just the town of Kerrville and not just the Guadalupe River. We have hundreds and hundreds of miles still under water today. We’ve moved past rescues and on to recoveries and many bodies will never be found. It was the holiday weekend so many unknown tourists. This was a freak monster flash flood no one has witnessed before and people here have witnesses countless floods. Flash means flash. The Texas Hill Country is named thus for a reason. All the hills dumping water into the valleys and the rivers and creeks plus the rains in the north all head south to the gulf. That’s why a wall of water hit causing a 20+ foot rise within <2 hours. I worry more about the water plowing down off the hills straight into our front door than I am about the river outside our windows.
But, but, the warnings! This happened in the middle of the night so if people were getting notifications on their phones, they were asleep. Some areas don’t get service. That’s the reason to be aware of weather not just around you but several counties north. So, it rained 2 weeks ago 4 counties north of you, well, you might get that water dumped in your yard tonight. If it rained everywhere between you and that far off county, then it is all going to flow down into the rivers and keep getting higher and higher and swift and swifter. Respect Mother Nature. This is a local set of events that has zero to do with the federal government.
But what is worse are the blacks’ hatred of whites all over social media. They are laughing and cheering the deaths of little Christian white girls saying they deserved it. Where is all this coming from? Why the hate on children? Excuse me, but there were different races at Camp Mystic so that is bs and how would the haters know what religion the missing girls are? There are more and more ugly nasty creatures out there these days.
Don’t know which one of you was on which side of the argument but a proposal can be presented for city or county vote dealing with emergency warning systems but the mayor and county commissioners can’t be blamed if the people vote it down. Many areas don’t get cell service so what’s the point? If the county sheriff’s dept. only has 7 deputies to get the word out, well, it ain’t gonna happen.
My 1st thought is amerika has become Sodom and gammora. And god spares not the innocent from the degenerates!
There were ample warning from the NWS days and hours ahead of the floods. Local emergency management agencies should have been going to those camps and ordering evacuations. The camp directors should have had evacuation plans too. Warnings were given, but not heeded.

Conspiracy theories are as nutty as vax injuries and stolen elections , right ?
Was Ike Eisenhower a nut ?
He warned about the MIC and also weaponized weather modification some 60 plus years ago.
Look where scientific knowledge and abilities have come since then. Yes ,, Darpa, harp and geo engineering is a thing. The frenzy slander of anyone daring to ask questions from the historically wrong Narrative Control Cubicles is telling
The old ...... " don't ask questions cuz crazy" Spit
Many people think that Opportunity Costs are only about money.
There are also Opportunity Costs for time, focus, personnel and many other things.
If you think ‘but Trump’ is bad...
...anyone heard of the ‘blue rain’ & ‘weather modification’ conspiracy BS? I read that the storms dumped an estimated 100 billion gallons on Kerr County, but holy cow. ‘True pandemic’ level stuff here, in part from our friend MTG. /s
