Orange County, CA – A heroic pup named Rambo finds himself in need of a new home after he was brutally stabbed while defending his family from a violent intruder. The 11-month-old shepherd/husky mix sustained wounds to his chest, neck, shoulders, and a paw while protecting his family from the criminal.
Sadly, Rambo was rushed to a veterinarian for emergency care, but his family opted to NOT take him back home after he was treated, even though staff at Nuevo Road Animal Hospital offered to do his surgery free of charge.
Today, the courageous pup is healing from his wounds and waiting for someone to see his worth and offer him a new home. Rambo is in the care of the German Shepherd of Orange County and in boarding until a family can be found.

Brave dog saves family, family abandons dog. That is just wrong.
the only benefit of the doubt I’ll give is they feel guilty for what the pup went through(?) or are too traumatized and inept both emotionally and morally to be loving owners and they admit it?
First two words of your post are the answer to the question.
Shades of John Wick.
If you substitute "dog" for "cat," it works just as well.
When my kids were young we had a female German shepherd that they could climb on. If they were outside with her, she wouldn’t let you in the yard if she didn’t know you.
Some people shouldn’t own dogs.
Agreed!
I’m sure this pup will be one of the most wanted dogs ever. Praying he has a loving adoring family for the rest of his life!
He defends them and they abandon him? Clearly, his humans weren’t worth defending. Whoever adopts him will get a very good boy.
I guarantee he will find a much better home
Large dogs are my favorite...had a female Pekingese years ago (exception to what I favored but first in the home) and a male Doberman..The Peke had to have an operation and when she came home from the vet, the Doberman didn’t like the smell on her but he wanted to console her so he licked her bandages..then he would back away from her and settle down somewhere else in the house. Dogs truly are man’s best friend - and woman’s....
My dogs have never saved me in this fashion, and I wouldn’t abandon them under any circumstances. I do not understand how people can be so utterly unfeeling toward an animal, particularly one that put its life on the line to protect them. There is something deeply wrong with these people.
Yes, and they may have moved to an apartment, a motel, or someplace where they would be unable to keep the dog.
It seems they took the dog to a vet and the vet did the initial surgery for free (good on them).
But we don’t know how much after-care the dog needs and at what cost. Perhaps they just couldn’t afford it or as was said, perhaps they had to relocate after this violent home invasion to someplace what wouldn’t allow the dog.
FWIW the apartment complex where I live allows dogs and even has a fenced dog park but there are many breed restrictions, including German Shepards, Dobermans, Rottweilers, Pit Bull and Pit mixes, Chow Chows.
What ingrates!!!!!
Those evil beings don’t deserve a dog. EVER.

The animal hospital did all the surgeries and aftercare for free. I’m a volunteer with the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County so I know that.
The surgeries were done in April, which means the animal hospital cared for him for two months at their expense. German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County took the dog in only in the past two days.
The rescue will gladly take donations for his training.
odds on they are Democrats
A very ungrateful family turned its back on a wonderful blessing.
Some do the very same thing to wounded soldiers.
