Careful, that one will quibble and annoy you to death.
THIS
“Because you have sadistic tendencies and follow this feature link like a predator just waiting for prey to attack and practice sadism.”
LOL! I see you have not responded to others posting to you.
It was about twenty years ago, when we stopped during a bad storm to eat. There were several cars of parents transporting a Christian School B-ball team home from a game. We lost as usual. Wendy’s refused to sell us any food because the power was out and the nincompoops could not operate the electronic cash register! I tried to reason with them. They had food ready on the grill which was trashed because they simply refused to sell it to us.
Such stupidity!
TWENTY YEARS AGO!
“Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind.” Dune
It’s always fun when sci-fi is prescient.
Or maybe we’ll get the Asimov version of AI robots.
AI is going to be big in farming. That’s my prediction.
“I will admit that I would like to hear the explanation and the rebuttal if any.”
Thank you for your curiosity and it is a warranted request. Here is the deal... I have shared the philosophy behind this AI issue for about a year now. I am a techy. I WAS all in and do Technology. And because of this knowledge I have an inside track to what the capabilities of technology truly are. It is beyond the imagination of most.
We were already in trouble with Corporations running our lives. Example Google searches, Health insurance companies denying claims and procedures based on decisions that AI provided, And now the AI control of finances. Literally everything around us is now digital. And it can all be controlled by remote.
Our washer and driers, Smart meters, Televisions, Ring Cameras, Our vehicles, EVERTHING. The only thing holding them back from total enslavement of our lives 24-7 was computing power. AI will provide this for them. With AI they can literally control every little aspect of our lives and punish us in real time.
They can tell us how much bacon or beer we are allowed to buy a week, How “cold or hot” they want us to be, And raise our vehicle insurance rates according to our driving habits they are monitoring in real time. And if we do not comply they will just shut off our furnace and debit card... Or even shut down our vehicle so we can’t use it.
Fantasy? Absolutely not... They already have all that tech right now. The only hold back is computing power to handle the masses. And AI will give that to them... This is extremely scary stuff they are shoving down our throats. And the worst part? They are so much more intelligent about slipping this in on us that they have everyone BEGGING for their own digital enslavement.
Just wait until our Government, Law Enforcement, Health, Finances, Education, Etc. are all run from AI control. Will we still be free? Absolutely not...

Yep... Been there. This will be on steroids... It will be denying service even WITH the power on...
“Sorry about that, our AI is having it’s monthly”...
There will not be AGI for along time.
I remember programming Eliza into my apple ][ back in 1980
I have worked with some of the best llm of today, and they are not much more.
one of my friends wrote the first directX engine for graphics and I have watched the amazing advances that have been made since 1995 and The “AI” curve is the same except following
the whole problem with “ai” is that it does not think at all
it is today like a .Indian call center worker who works off of a training script.
If you tell an “ai” today it is wrong it will apologize and even admit you are right, but will it learn ? You can ask it later from a different ip address or account and you will find out that it did not.
Yeah, I know... I like drawing him out in return. :)
You know? The funny thing is he actually has the capability to be decent. He has done it before many times. To bad it is not the predominant trait...
So... Butlerian Jihad is the future, not Asimov’s positronic brain robots and their 3 laws.
Who’s going to empty my roomba?
Lol, When I was growing up it was “Jump on that and everyone get back while he figures it out”.
But insurance, crybabies, and dumb judges ruined that “sink or Swim” social lifestyle...
“So... Butlerian Jihad is the future”
Where did you even get that from what I shared? Some unconscious residual of other deep seated emotions?
All I’m saying is that our TV’s and vehicles are going to tell on us and the Government will punish us for our thoughts...
It will be “Social Credit Score” on steroids... For our “convenience, safety, and profits” of course...
I think that that level of control could result in a Butlerian Jihad type of rebellion and the smashing of a great many things.
People are repairing older and older cars and many straight up tell us they wish to avoid the smart technology in cars.
You don’t need AGI to replace the workforce, all you need is a multimodal, embodied AI that is agentic and can execute instructions. Much of that technology already exists, and the rest of it is coming very soon.
Nor can it do medicine or auto-mechanics, or pound a nail, or cut hair or a plethora of other things.
The human touch is invaluable.

I commend you for this posting.
On the other hand I have read many other threads where you get into a tit for tat debate.
Keep up the good work like the above posting.
AI was helpful in dealing with interface to outside data via Google proto specs. It was an infrequent requirement that was rapidly resolved with the AI code, then on to writing the actual application with the generated models.
My project didn't really have any "juniors". Lots of "greybeards" with 30 years working on the component subsystems. Trump's move to reign in spending filtered down through my company as an austerity ethic. Cuts in recruiting. Cuts in perks for referrals of candidates. Cuts in company support for training and certifications. Claw backs of unused funding.
My boss advised me last November that the funding supporting my work on the project would end on Feb 7th. He managed to find some additional funds for some critically desired capabilities before the resources ran dry May 8th. The austerity "ethic" meant internal open positions were also in "thrifty" mode. I decided that it was time to head down the retirement direction. My last official day was June 8th.
Cost cutting is lopping off the expensive employees from the top of the food chain. AI is doing the entry level stuff that new college grads often used as a foot in the door. The middle will be Ok for a while.
Roomba dealing with dog crap makes for side-splitting Youtube videos.
