Hudson Bay, Canada. Dam it up and they’ll be fresh water for the entire west. As for Mexico start with the Baja.

Just gotta transport the water. If California can pump it south so can Canada.

I don’t want Canada. But Alberta would sure be nice.

Love Trump, but think the Canada stuff is stupid and distracting.

Trump's comment about Canada becoming the 51st state was his riposte to Justin Trudeau's complaint at Mar-a-Largo that Canada could not survive the tariff reciprocity and greater defense effort that Trump insists on. As it is, PM Carney has no cards to play and will give Trump most of what he wants, hoping that Canada can somehow be kept intact.

Since the Canadian government chronically overtaxes and over-regulates Alberta and leaves them no political recourse, Alberta seems likely to secede. Quebec will follow, with the residue of Canada in some manner becoming part of a North American Union of the US with whatever remains after statehood for Alberta and probably one or two other provinces. Since China has their hooks deep into Canada, they and their Canadian agents will try meddling against such an outcome.

As for Canadians, they will do well out of the dissolution of Canada as an independent political entity. Those who pine for Canada as it was ought to reflect on Canada as an emerging example of an old lesson: Leftism and Leftists destroy nations. Realists will recognize the good fortune of Canadians that it will be the US that picks up the pieces and provides lower taxes and more freedom. Eh, what's so bad about that?

One country swallowing up another used to happen, in the 19th century: the US gained Texas and Hawaii that way. In the 1940s the Soviet Union swallowed the three Baltic countries (now independent again).

Saddam Hussein tried to add Kuwait to Iraq and might have gotten away with it if Margaret Thatcher had not persuaded George H. W. Bush to do something about it. Morocco has absorbed the former Spanish Sahara but it's mostly uninhabited desert, and no one recognizes the conquest.

Since 1950 border changes by force have been pretty rare.

“I don’t know why I have to be one of the few conservatives to actually say this, but there’s something wrong with using chaos as standard operating procedure.”

The unspoken part is that the speaker prefers business-as-usual to change.

Unfortunately for them, the times they are a-changing whether they like it or not.

Trump can be in charge of driving they change, or the totalitarian globalist billionaire cabal can be in charge.

Their choice.

maybe, but the bigger the country, the bigger the federal government and the less responsive it is to the will of the people—

The goal of the globalists is to assemble the three countries of north america into one country, then assemble the countries of south america into one country and then assemble north and south america into one country and then assemble them into one world government.

Its amazing that after 10 years, you still have to explain it to most of this site also...

Nevermind this is his modus operandi since the 80’s...

Because “MAGA” is enthralled with Trump, the globalists figured out that the best way to get their way is to have Trump rebrand it as his idea.

Every day you confirm for the rest of us Freepers what a Never-Trumper Ass you are!

...I am someone who became a conservative largely because of its emphasis on (and defense of) freedom and sovereignty.

Excellent, Mr. Rooney...Then, I am sure you would have no objection to Alberta seeking freedom etc. by becoming the 51st US state.

South America will never be unified. If the Spanish-speaking countries couldn't be corralled into a union during the wars for independence, when it was a matter mostly of white plantation owners who counted for anything politically, they aren't going to unite now.

The earliest entities to win independence fractured--the union of Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador broke up, and the Central American union didn't last long. The history of post-independence Latin America also includes some wars between the countries. Bolivia used to have a coastline. Paraguay fought a couple of disastrous wars. And of course the largest country in South America is not Spanish-speaking.

If Alberta could break away from Canada, it might find independence preferable. But I can’t imagine the Canadian government agreeing to secession.

**Hudon Bay is salt water.**

Dam it up and store the fresh stuff. I do remember this was suggested as a 90 year project. That was years ago.

It’s all schtick.

Several First Nations in Canada have treaties with the Crown that pre-date Alberta joining Confederation and cover areas in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

THEY have the most cards. More than Canada, Alberta and the US. If they don’t agree, Alberta leaving Confederation is not going to happen. And it won’t.

This and Greenland. Both of them. This may be the way Trump does business, but Americans are not into taking over other countries against the will and consent of the people.

Trump is embarrassing this country. He’s acting like some tinpot dictator. Gold leaf everywhere in the Oval Office, what’s next? Someone should remind him he’s only a temporary occupant. The place belongs to the American people, not him with his vulgar taste in decor.

Did you see him with the Canadian premier in the Oval Office? He was being lectured to like a child in elementary school. Some things aren’t to be sold, he was reminded. Like the White House and Buckingham Palace. Trump sat there in what is now becoming his habitual posture—slumped over at the waist, looking down at his feet.

The President of the United States being lectured to by the socialist premier of a third-rate country that has shown it hates our guts and is now in league with our number 1 adversary, China?

I’ve had enough of Trump and his childish antics. It’s really getting old. We’re not taking over Canada or Greenland. It’s out of the question so stop talking about it, Trump. You’re really looking foolish and making Americans look like bullies, a waning superpower desperately trying to stay on top.

You forgot Saskatchewan. SK is probably MORE conservative than AB! AB is flashier, so attracts more Laurentianists. In general, Laurentianists (urban ON and QU types) move to AB to make money and then move back, fargin’ carpetbaggers! SK does not suffer the influx of Laurentianist csrpetbaggers that AB suffers. SK should also be a US Territory, if AB goes that way. (Combined, the State/Territory of Buffalo.)
