‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ wants fans to do the time warp again for its 50th anniversary.
The musical cult classic’s half-century milestone will be celebrated with a new 4K Ultra remaster that will be released in theaters and on Blu-ray later this year.
Released in 1975, the movie stars Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon as a newly engaged couple who seek help at the castle of gender-bending Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry) when their car breaks down.
“Rocky Horror” was based on the musical play by Richard O’Brien with a screenplay by O’Brien and director Jim Sharman, and produced by Lou Adler and Michael White.
Since then, the movie has become famous for its midnight showings and audience participation.

You guys like this kind of stuff.
We sat in the balcony to avoid the water and rice.
Watched it several times since around Halloween.
Meatloaf put on a great performance.
Have liked everything he's done since, may he R.I.P.
This got me to lookin’ for the soundtrack, which I have on CD.
movie ping to sphinx. Don’t know if you would be interested in this or not. :)
I had forgotten Meatloaf was in it.
Correct!
There was a theater in my hometown which would play this every Friday night. LATE showing, walking distance from home.
I only went once and, yeah, I was loaded (I was 17 iirc).
I don’t remember a lick of the flick. Not a frame.
I do recall people down in front wearing garbage bags and still don’t get why. Never went back.
Don’t care.
In 1978, I was in London for a week. There was a live Rocky Horror playing. The live band was great, and yes, there was plenty of toast and, of course, “he’s got no neck!”
At the end of the show, hundreds of 8x11 papers fell from the ceiling. On the page was the “steps” to The Time Warp Dance. I probably still have it in the garage somewhere.
I’ve seen it many, many times and own the DVD, great music and a lot of fun.
That’s quite the coincidence.
I was also in London in 1978. Saw the live stage performance while there.
Stop over while on the way to a trade show in Düsseldorf.
I went to see Rocky Horror with some friends in San Jose as a kid in high school in 1979. Hilarious both on-screen and off, with people throwing toast and rice at the screen.
I was a low down cheap little punk back when this movie came out and went to several dozen showings in our small town.
Today I’m embarrassed of things i use to like and embrace. After my mom died all i wanted was rock and roll, porn and a motor bike.
I’m kind of a noob to Rocky Horror. I’ve only seen it about 40 times.
Exactly.
Saw Tim Curry recently.
Did not follow his work. Did not recognize him.
Always thought RHPS was the open of the dam to mainstreaming freakdom.
Prior to that one had to go to wild and freaky places to sink that low.
Didn’t people throw toilet paper rolls too?
Who is Barry Bostwick?
Been there.
Stupid evil movie.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show has escaped the “Theatre of the Absurd” and become reality ... I saw it at the cinema, back in the day. Now I see it walking the aisles of Wal*Mart.
Let’s do the Time Warp again!
