It’s a driver’s license with a star on it. Been that way for several years.
I just got my new VA ID card. It also works as a Real ID.
But I doubt that I will be flying any time soon.
The Real ID Act was passed in 2005. The deadline for enforcement has been extended several times. It’s time for it to be enforced. Texas has been issuing Real ID compliant drivers’ licenses and ID cards since October 2016. It’s been so long that the first compliant Texas ID’s have already expired.
They open the border to illegals, then they treat regular Americans like suspects.
Your papers olease. Explain also the nature of your travels and your business. Fed Gov can indeed ban you from travels.
Nope haven’t got it...probably won’t get it...unless states start issuing it as a “renewal” to existing DL’s. Have a passport if I need to fly (unlikely).
According to TSA, you can use the following. But this is racist against POCs because everybody knows they are incapable of getting such ID.
State-issued Enhanced Driver’s License
U.S. passport
U.S. passport card
DHS trusted traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)
U.S. Department of Defense ID, including IDs issued to dependents
Permanent resident card
Border crossing card
An acceptable photo ID issued by a federally recognized Tribal Nation/Indian Tribe, including Enhanced Tribal Cards (ETCs).
HSPD-12 PIV card
Foreign government-issued passport
Canadian provincial driver’s license or Indian and Northern Affairs Canada card
Transportation worker identification credential
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766)
U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential
Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)
I did. The deadline will expire while I am out of state on vacation. Some difficulty getting a certified birth certificate, but got it done. Wondering all along, and continue to, if I had flown all the way across the country, deadlines expires while I’m there, would I really have been prevented from coming home? We’ll see on May 7 whether that will happen to people
The Real ID Act was treated like the move of the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem...all we did was put it off, FOR DECADES, even though it was US LAW. Finally, Trump 1.0 does it (moves the embassy) and everyone has a fit. Well, if it was such a bad law, they had FOREVER to repeal it...they never did.
In this case, the Real ID deadline was continuously kicked down the road, including by Trump 1.0. But here we are - something changed?
Any guesses? I have one..
Wait till a district court judge rules this unconstitutional.
That’s gonna be a battle.
In addition to state issued drivers’ licenses and ID cards, several federally issued ID cards are also Real ID compliant. There are federal employee ID cards, military ID’s, and passports (both book and card versions).
Some states didn’t want to issue Real ID compliant ID’s. California issues noncompliant ID’s that can’t be used to enter secure federal buildings, buy firearms, or board aircraft. They also issue Real ID compliant ID’s and drivers’ licenses that can be used for every purpose a Real ID is required. Basically a Real ID requires the same verification of identity as a passport. Texas only issues Real ID compliant ID’s and has done so since October 2016.
I don’t have one—but it will be a perfect excuse for me not to fly.
Oh gee—I forgot to get one.
Lol.
New Mexico dragged it’s feet on this forever. In 2015 military bases required Real ID to enter, as a contractor my license was no good, so I had to get a Passport Card.
I never wanted to fly again, so taking in the required stuff to up grade my drivers license seemed like a waste of time. I could renew my Idaho drivers license by mail. Then I turned 70 and comes the dawn. Now I have to renew my license in person. So I figured take in the crap and get the Star on my drivers license. My mother passed away last September. After that things required me to fly to the Midwest. It sucked but I had the damn Star on the ID so no problem. My military service years ago caused me to fly, back then you didn’t have to jump through your anal orifice to get on an airplane and it was enjoyable Now the airlines can have it. I never want to fly again. If the Star becomes a condition for voting fine.
Yes, got mine 15 years back when my State first offered them.
I was born here. My parents were born here. My indigenous roots were here before Cortez. I have seen the black sands of Washington, the horseshoe crabs of Delaware, the Connecticut boulders placed by the glaciers, the thatched roofs of Plymouth Plantation, the whole layout at Cape Cana eral - the burial site of Apollo 1, the beauty of the Rockies, the Mojave desert, the wackiness of Portland, SoCal in the ‘80s, and all to say that since I got my state-issued ID card, I’m staying right here at home.
I don’t have one and I’m going to do my best not to get one. I have a passport and have had for 25 years. If I need to fly I will use my passport. Although they ruined flying for me years ago. I believe 2013 was the last time I got on an airplane. And I hope it is the last time.
I can’t say enough bad things about the TSA so I won’t bother saying anything.
Now that we have the DOGE team, I am waiting for them to match the REAL IDs with the Registered Voters across the USA.
It will be interesting to see how many Registered Voters do not have a REAL ID where the REAL ID states whether they are US Citizens or not.
We have real ID because of illegals and terrorists
We pay massive sales tax because it's the only way to tax illegal aliens in the underground cash economy.
We pay excessive auto insurance rates because of uninsured illegal aliens operating under false IDs.
We pay fraudulent welfare benefits to illegals receive welfare under multiple false identifies.
I noticed a lot of Real ID businesses popped up quickly.
My DMV is useless. I think this is crap. And I don’t like the star idea. Is it gold?
