Will Trump's Tariff's Destroy the World?
Uncommon Analysis ^ | 4/7/2025 | Uncommon Analysis

Trump has instituted tariffs against all US Trading partners. Fear has gripped the stock markets. The media and those invested in the status quo keep shouting trade war, but is that really what Trump's after?

This is a long one folks, sorry, but you can't bumper sticker slogan what is going on here.

The assumption in that headline question makes is that America has to sacrifice its prosperity on the alter of globalism in order for the rest of the world to survive. I am not buying it and, if it is true, then the rest of the world isn’t fit to survive and they can go to hell.

It has been postulated that tariffs imposed by Trumposaurus Rex wiped out the dinosaurs.

Only if the rest of the world escalates this into a tariff war. Otherwise, they could negotiate reasonable tariffs with the US.

I still don’t see how tariffs by other countries on the US are fine, but US tariffs are not.

“Trump has instituted tariffs against all US Trading partners.”

Much smaller tariffs than all US Trading partners have instituted against us.

What the hell anyway?

Europe just offered to go zero-zero on tariffs, dam may be breaking already. I’m down 3% so far (thanks to being 75% in T-Bills and Bonds.).

Question: Do these globalist fear mongers realize the size of the tariff is in billions? Overall the tariff is small potatoes. The reaction is SO OVER THE TOP.

"The reaction is SO OVER THE TOP."

They're upset because the mark has finally figured the game out.

The size of world GDP is $106 trillion. The estimated size of the tariff income is $400 billion.

Comparing the two, the tariff is .003% of worldwide GDP. It is not even a rounding error in size.

So if you were circumnavigating the globe, the tariff would represent the first 72 miles of a 24,800 mile trip.

Why didn’t all the tariffs the world imposed on us destroy it?

Folks, this is the only straw the left has grasped taking hold.

Mostly because fake conservatives and moronic libertarians fall for it.

Even on FR.

zero-zero on tariffs is a good start, but it is not just tariffs, there are other unfair practices.

France and the EU declare if you don’t grow your grapes in the Champaign region of France, you can’t call your product champaign. This is not a restriction based on the actual quality of the product, so it is a restriction that must be treated like a barrier to trade similar to a tariff, and France must drop it for the country to be considered to meet any zero-zero on tariffs standard.

We are suppose to give to the rest of the world and never seek to balance the flow.

The world sees the US as one giant piggy bank for them to take from.

It is also a place for them to send all of their troublemakers and undesirables.

We are also to jump up to expend our blood and treasure to take care of any threats.

To them this is our proper duty.

And so it has been for 80 years and a bit more.

Our polite notice that we are no longer going to do those things will not destroy the world but it will shake it up a bit.
