This is a PR stunt. The way to eliminate authorization and appropriations for NPR and PBS — and most other federal programs — is through the reconciliation and budget bills. You know: the budget, that archaic thing that the Congress stil has to do every year and used to take seriously before letting everything get sucked into the black holes of CRs and omnibus budget resolutions. Control of the budget is the source of the power of the purse.
