St. Patrick's Breastplate (Prayer of St. Patrick) - Jean Watson

Not the traditional melody but awesome imagery conveying the journey of Theosis!

Patrick’s original name was Maewyn Succat and he was born to Christian parents in Wales (Roman Britain). His father was a deacon and his grandfather, a priest.

There's a "Peanuts" strip where Snoopy is singing "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" to himself until he sees a sign:

Tipperary 5 miles

That’s a good one. I tried playing it on my guitar, but it kind of has some odd chord changes.

He plays it on mandolin on the record, for what it’s worth.

YouTube seems to have a few Mando tabs for it, I noticed.

My favorite. My Dad would put the record on and we listened to it at least once a week. I love that tenor voice and it still can bring tears to my eyes. My Grandfather emigrated from Tipperary and graduated from Yale in 1904 with a law degree. I still have cousins over there but I must say Ireland has changed and not for the better over the last twenty years. I don’t plan on going back again.

Glad you appreciate it.

Thanks so much for your vignette.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

Just like Ireland, music has changed a lot. A lot of people don’t know how to appreciate this old music.

So many great songs here.   Thanks for posting.

For anyone who might want to sing along with an Irish tenor to some of the newer, more familiar Irish songs, this link has a bunch of them.
