More breathing room for Speaker Johnson and the GOP in the House until those yellow dog Democrat districts can hold elections.

It’s an ill wind that blows no good.

Actually the microencephalitic Regina Romero (D-Mexico) is unfortunately the mayor of Tucson.

A long fall from guys like Lew Murphy.

Democrats have lost two representatives in the past two weeks.

Oh, shucks......

Let's hope the chances of election front have decreased and some republicans win.

That would help offset any possible Congressional seat loss that might happen in NY as a result of Elise Stephanic.

I hope he was vaccinated.

May his soul rest. Whatever it lands.

His district does not run across the whole AZ/Mexico Border. But it IS very gerrymandered to include pretty much every Democrat-dominate town along the border.

Yeah but he will be voting for decades to come.

Please Lord, help me to pray he accepted Jesus before the end.

There will be a special election. Daniel Butierez has a chance. He has good name recognition. Trump has gained a lot of Hispanic support. Buierez ran in 2024 and has a more professional staff this time. He has not stopped running since the election, as it was widely known Grijalva did not have long to live.

I am sure there were people somewhere who loved him. Or were fond of him at least.

To those people, sorry for your loss.

Did not see a word about this, until today's news.

(Are there others?)

I admit to moderately inside information. I have shared a radio show studio with Daniel Butierez a few times. He let us in on the info.

Mr. Butierez may have a good change at picking up the seat, if he is organized and has a good message. Turnouts in special elections are typically far below routine general elections.

He has a chance. The left is currently disorganized and demoralized. Conservatives are ascendant.

Butierez is popular as a person in Tucson. He has a compelling story. He has a chance to get over the top. He will take the part of Yuma which is gerrymandered into the district.

I think the big question is whether his opponent (unknown at this time) will be able to take command of the Democratic Party fundraising and vote harvesting machine.

I see on winred.com that Butierrez is not listed as a candidate in House District 7, but that these two are:

Nina Becker
Jorge Rivas

Do you know who is the most electable conservative?

Brilliant, Jeff. Did you know there’s a name for rhetorical device you just used? It is called “praeteritio: (also spelled preteritio) or “paralipsis” (sometimes referred to as apophasis).

A speaker or writer explicitly states that they will not mention or discuss something, but in doing so, they indirectly bring attention to it—often implying or emphasizing the very thing they claim to avoid.
