Not how taxes work. You would pay a percentage of your income over 150k not your total income, just like now.

That’s the solution I’d prefer to see implemented.

A simple reasonable national sales tax. No exemptions, no refunds, and no individual paperwork or filings. Everyone contributes something based on their personal income and spending habits.

A FAIR tax would work. It takes care of the poor, yet raises money on items you desire, but can live without.

I see a significant percentage of freepers appear not to read the thread, embarrasing. This has been addressed multiple times.

It is usually considered rude to interject into a discussion when one has not head most of the discussion.

When did we become the party of ‘tax the rich’ over a fair tax. If you live here, you need to contribute.

I can get behind that too.

It makes the most sense. Can you even imagine what the multitudes making less than $150,000 a year will do with thier tax savings?

Yep, and more people will be needed to provide those products and services.

Good grief you do not understand marginal tax rates.

I agree. This is BS.

Don’t liberals (and even the NFL) repeatedly say “WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER”?

Well, If we’re ALL in this together, the everyone should pay at least something!

I could go for a big flat tax as long as it only covers the stuff I already own, who’s with me, high five.

Good grief you failed to read the thread, I already addressed that. Now stop trying to lie about my posts.

All he said was no taxes, not how. You can trust the gov, I do not. Yes my first post was speculative and could lead readers to assume I do not know what a marginal tax is, which is why even before you posted I addressed another post on that.

Your failure to read an desire to crap post reflects poorly.

Tariffs are better.

You beat me to it. Essential spending could be covered by tariffs, plus a tax on the $150,000+ crowd.

Tariffs will cause inflation in the short term. But that’s covered by the tax break.

And here’s a bonus. Tariffs will stimulate domestic production. More good jobs for everyone.

Looks like an overall win to me.
👍🏻

Not every American pays taxes now.

If you are below the so-called ‘Poverty Line’ you don’t pay any taxes.

If you also have children under 18 then you qualify for the EIC and actually get some money though you didn’t pay any in.

One year the company that I work for did really bad and I got every penny of my tax money back at the end of the year...............

About half the country now pay no Federal income tax at all.

That is ridiculous, some not only pay nothing, they get thousands back from the government .

Everyone should pay at least SOMETHING.

Adjusted for inflation, $500K in 1965 is greater than $1 million today.

And the 89% only applied to a portion of the income above a certain amount.

It didn't seem to kill the economy. Average family income was $70k in current dollars vs. $80k today-- and that was with most households having only 1 breadwinner.

So in 60 years, all the productivity enhancements, technology, etc., has left single male earners earning far less than what they did.

I made less in ‘24, but my taxes doubled. It was a chunk, enough to buy a decent used truck.

Any help from Trump would be welcome.

That's the plan. Wages are paid at the margins: if a small segment of positions like heavy industry pull workers in because of the high wages, it pulls everyone else up.

Plus the "Keynesian multiplier" effect in secondary businesses: a steel mill means not only high paying jobs for its workers but the refractory supplier, fabricators, shippers, car dealers, local diners and shopping and a big boost in local tax revenue, easing the burden on everyone else.

We had the best economy in the world and near military supremacy and threw it all away so politicians and an incompetent business class could benefit.
