How about the following instead:
  1. Canada immediately drops their tariffs.
  2. US will then drop theirs, immediately.
  3. US and Canada negotiate an increase by Canada of its border officers and resources to stem the flow of Illegals and Fentynal.

This why, I think, Trump is focused on tariffs. The money is immediate. It doesn’t matter what is in the warehouses or the pipeline, you have to have the cash to move the product.

Canada has a trade surplus with the U.S. and enjoys higher tariffs. Canada’s government is addicted to this money as if it was USAID. They can’t give it up any more than Hunter can his crack pipe.

And this is really what all the fuss is about, isn't it.

I don't get why Canada doesn't jump right on it and diffuse the whole situation. It's not like Trump is asking for the moon.

And I'm convinced all the talk about 51st state is just Trump trolling.

Agreed. Remove the tariffs or worst case go reciprocal. If Canada desperately needs tariffs to protect their producers, then the business model needs to be looked at.
