Dramatic footage showed the Beechcraft A36TC erupt in flames in the parking lot of Brethren Village in Manheim Township.
In a statement to DailyMail.com, an FAA spokesperson said five people were on board the plane.
The plane took off as scheduled on Sunday afternoon, but quickly requested to land back on the tarmac because its door had opened.
Horrifying air traffic control audio revealed the pilot telling ground agents that they needed to turn around - but at one point he said that he couldn’t hear the radio because of all the wind noise, caused by the unlocked hatch.
This is why when I hear a small plane hovering overhead I cringe, its always been that way, Id never want to fly on one

No doubt the Democrats and news media will immediately blame DOGE, Elon and Trump.
Listened to ATC recording. The ATC guy had no sense of urgency, almost like he was hoping this would happen. Just a nonchalant voice, not a sense of urgency as you would expect.
This is a common accident with this type of plane. If you don’t get the door latched completely it will pop open about the time you take off. The solution for the pilot is to ignore it and return for a landing. However, many pilots panic and get distracted with trying to close the door. They get so focused on the door issue they forget to fly the plane. Sad.
All I’ve seen so far is that the 5 occupants were taken to a hospital. Possibly hitting the cars gave them some “crumple zone” softening of the impact, and they were able to get out B4 the fire got going?
I guess if my car saved someone’s life, I could “manage” any frustrations with the insurance company...
Not good. Prayers for all.

Just horrible. We had a crash in our neighborhood in 2013.
