It Isn’t A ‘Crisis’ For Trump To Fire Flag Officers, It’s A Crisis To Think He Can’t
The Federalist ^ | February 28, 2025 | Chris Bray

An “Appeal to Congress” from five former secretaries of defense warns that Donald Trump is firing flag officers, which is unprecedented and an assault on American political norms. This letter is an appalling package of dangerous claims and dumber than a box of rocks. But let’s take a helpful detour before we get into the details.

An essay Thursday from a professor at the U.S. Naval War College makes a similar argument and perfectly represents the moment:

Here’s the core of the argument, and if you read it carefully you’ll notice an interesting concession right at the center:

All evidence suggests that the new administration is removing top military officers for reasons other than competence or performance, aiming to replace them with people they see as more loyal to this specific administration.

The president does have the authority to remove these officers; three- and four-star officers hold that rank only while they possess the position of importance and responsibility to which they have been specifically nominated by the president, and they serve at the pleasure of the president. But just because something is legal does not make it wise.

Removing top military leaders either for faithfully implementing the policies of previous administrations or for their identity — rather than for incompetence or failing to perform their duties — is a move designed to consolidate and retain regime power. Removing the top uniformed lawyers simultaneously and without justification presages an intent to act in ways that truly independent lawyers might advise against. Together, these measures constitute a crisis.

So:

  1. These measures constitute a crisis;

  2. The president does have the authority to...

These five clowns obviously didn’t watch the Vindman brothers use their military uniforms to bring down the President of the United States. Sorry guys. You’re not in America anymore. Two Army officers going after the President of the United States. There aren’t any rules anymore. They’ve been firing commanding officers from all of the services at a rate of at least one per month for the past few years. That is what concerns me.

Trump is the C-in-C. They serve at his convenience and should read the Constitution. Loyalty to the Chief is definitely a condition of continued service.

“But just because something is legal does not make it wise.”

Wise shmise. You all just made his argument for him. The ones who remain know who the weasels are that are getting canned and want them gone more than he does. It’s a morale booster.

The military is not a Democracy; nor is the United States. It may be the worst form of government yet devised. The military officially defined it as such, or nearly so a hundred years ago.

“Government derived by the masses. Leads to agitation, discontent, anarchy. Mobocracy. Attitude towards property communistic.”

Having pointed this out, it should be said that when they use the term “Democracy” they don’t mean citizens voting on representation in government. Not even a little bit, they are using their own special definition. Basically it means rule by unelected unaccountable unknown mostly anonymous “institutions” and secret societies, or the EU etc.

Just so we add a little historical context.

“.....President Harry S. Truman fired General Douglas MacArthur on April 11, 1951, due to MacArthur’s public statements that contradicted the administration’s policies and his attempts to escalate the Korean War without presidential approval. This decision was controversial and highlighted the principle of civilian control over the military in the United States.......”

The President is the Commander in Chief of the military and Generals need to understand that and “tow the line” or expect to be fired. It does not matter how many stars or medals one wears on their uniform.

Eisenhower relieved Gen. Patton of his command when he was obviously the most competent general we had. He also may have been assassinated. That jeep wreck looks mighty suspicious.

But how was it that Patton was the only one hurt in the accident, it was a total fluke that he was paralyzed.

Right. Obama purged the Bush promoted warrior generals and replaced them with corporate hacks. Obama made them sign a loyalty pledge. These “competent” generals caused the collapse of A-stan and led a disgraceful exit that looked like Saigon. Worse. These “competent” generals allowed DEI and the climate change hoax to hollow out the services. These “competent” generals mandated the COVID vax and ejected resistors. Patton would slap these “competent” generals for being useless Obama toads.

Except for Mattis, they are all Democrat appointees. And Mattis was kind of RINO or closet Democrat anyway.

What Jeep? Patton was in a Cadillac limousine that struck a truck.

In the movie he was in a jeep I believe. Maybe my memory serves me poorly or the movie took liberties.
