Denver Public Schools has filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem over a policy allowing ICE immigration agents to enter schools. The federal lawsuit claims that the policy has caused attendance to plummet due to the amount of illegal aliens in the district.
“DPS is hindered in fulfilling its mission of providing education and life services to the students who are refraining from attending DPS schools for fear of immigration enforcement actions occurring on DPS school grounds,” the lawsuit states, according to a report from ABC News.
“Parents across Denver enroll their children in public schools believing that while at school, their children will be educated and enriched without fear the government will enforce immigration laws on those premises,” the lawsuit continues.
The lawsuit says there are roughly 4,000 illegal aliens in the school district, primarily Hispanic or Latino.
The complaint claims the Trump administration has not provided a “good reason” for the policy change.
“Denver is standing up for its children and families and protecting the right of all children, regardless of their immigration status, to attend public schools,” Elora Mukherjee, director of the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic at Columbia Law School, said in a statement to ABC.

Mayan and Aztec...
You can fire a few teachers and save even more money
Well, that’s a GOOD thing.
The school is just upset that the gravy train is cut off.
If you take Federal money, then you fall under Federal law. If you don’t take federal money, then you can close the doors against them and make them show a warrant.
Precisely!

In the 1970s, activists began lobbying the US Census Bureau to group together Americans descended from Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico and elsewhere in Latin America, rather than ask them to declare an origin from a particular country, as they had to do on the 1970 Census. These activists, inspired by the Civil Rights movement, were seeking the new designation as part of a push for equality and a recognition of diversity, and a new term they believed would highlight the differences and hardships these residents faced as a result of their shared Central and South American provenance.
The activists were successful. In the mid-70s, a young Mexican-American government worker, Grace Flores-Hughes, and a diverse group of Spanish-speaking federal employees were tasked with selecting a word for a new federally defined heritage category for the 1980 US census. Their goal was to find a single term that encompassed the burgeoning Mexican, Cuban, and Puerto Rican populations in US states. After much deliberation, they landed on Hispanic.
The term caught on, and thanks in part to a boost in popularity from ads aired on Univision and during Spanish-language TV shows, Hispanic became a more broadly acceptable label. Today, Hispanic is still a commonly used term to refer to peoples of Hispanic origin. For example, the US recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month in September and October to celebrate people of Hispanic descent .
DHS needs to countersue the ahos at Denver Public Schools. Where the hell is Denver Public Schools going to get the money to sue the U.S. taxpayers? Lawsuits need to be “LOSER PAYS”.
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
We do not owe education to illegal aliens.
So, the district picks and chooses which laws are ignored and enforced.
No chit. *shocker* /s
SCOTUS was as wrong as RvW on illegal children & school "rights"...
What hubris and gall!
President-Elect Vance is licking his chops for 2028.
Hispanic or Latino.

Are those different?
I attendance has plummeted, that means they need to cut back on spending. Fire excess teachers and above all administrators.
I don’t see the kids as criminal. Kids don’t have agency.
However children being educated in our public schools should be here legally.
Deport the parents and the kids go with them, families stay intact. No point in hating children.
Says Attendance Has Plummeted means more winning. Send the ICE agents to the kid's homes as truant officers.
