Trump White House Press Room Changes Are Long Overdue
American Greatness ^ | January 27, 2025 | Jeremy Frankel

A second Trump administration may revamp the White House briefing room, sidelining legacy media in favor of independent voices and shaking up the mainstream press's long-held dominance.

There have been reports in recent weeks suggesting that there may be major changes coming to the White House press briefing room in a second Trump administration.

The White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) generally creates the briefing room seating chart, which gives the front row to what most of us would call the “mainstream media,” such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and network news channels, most of which, if not all, are notoriously biased to the left. However, the new Trump administration may take the responsibility away from the WHCA and seemingly set the seating arrangements itself.

The New York Sun reported that incoming press secretary Karoline Leavitt “foresees a briefing room makeup that features more independent and non-traditional organizations, including internet personalities that don’t have a print or TV presence,” presumably meaning independent podcasters, journalists, and the like.

Hence, the WHCA, which essentially represents the legacy press, may no longer have the access it always did to smear President Trump and his administration, as it did with every Republican administration before it.

Some reporters anonymously complained about the idea when it came up last month. “It would be a total mess,” a White House reporter told The Hill. “I would expect people would probably boycott the briefings, though that would put certain outlets in a tough spot deciding if they want to go along with what the Trump people are trying to pull.”

The lack of self-awareness here is truly astonishing.

Although they may whine and gnash teeth, as the left tends to do any time it loses, the notion of removing what Trump rightly refers to as the “enemy of the people” is a great idea. The reason to have press briefings in the first place is for the American people to learn about current events, straight from the White House. What press briefings have essentially become are complete spectacles, with journalists/Democrat activists becoming famous either by playing “gotcha” or giving sycophantic praise depending on which party is in power. The only people who benefit from the current system are media networks and their hosts, who then interview each other and pat each other on the back for how amazing they are. The public is left in the dark, about as informed as beforehand.

Trump ran in 2015 on “draining the swamp” and did a great job doing so in his first term. The idea of the mainstream media being blacklisted as “fake news” and a true negative for society, rather than a ruling class outlet to just be complained about regarding its blatant bias and hypocrisy, largely stemmed from the MAGA movement. If anyone is going to dismantle the legacy media’s hold on the White House press briefings, it is Trump and his administration.

The American people don’t need another Jim Acosta, who made a name for himself by consistent and obnoxious grandstanding to the point where the White House pulled his press pass, or Yamiche Alcindor, who views her job in journalism as a directive to bend the “moral arc toward justice.” There is a reason that trust in the media is at an all-time low. We deserve to learn what’s going on in their government, and the “enemy of the people” deserves nothing more than to be ignored. Destroying the monopoly of the legacy press is one incredible and easy way to drain the swamp and help make America great again.

Why even have a ‘press room’?

Make them wait outside in the cold and rain like real people.............

“”How about, NO SEATS!

Standing room only!””

AND, a dress code. No slobs, no long-haired, dope-smoking, maggot-infested, good time rock ‘n’ roll plastic banana FM types.
(let’s see who remembers the phrase above)

The poor dummies don’t realize nobody likes or trusts them so they really should be permanently assigned to the back of the room.

Ignore the MSM. Anyone with a brain cell knows what they are. They don’t get embarrassed. They double down.
The legacy media will broadcast the podcast interview occurred with whoever it is. Fox will air parts of it 24/7. Voters will go watch it.

The legacy media is dying. Folks here want to give them mouth to mouth instead of pulling the plug.

Random seat assignments, any lack of professionalism or courtesy results in loss of a seat assignment for one week (2nd violation = 1 month, 3rd violation = 1 year), persons found transferring or selling their seat excluded for one year. Anyone arriving late will not gain entry.

I’d also add this - anyone using a fake shutter sound on a digital camera sent to GITMO and waterboarded.

This was on a shelf in the West Wing "press room" during Trump's first term.

It went well for CBS. Everytime they are seen or written about it is free advertising for them. You’re keeping them in business.

As I understand it, the MSM created their own seating chart under Bush Sr. when the then White House simply threw up their hands and stated that they no longer wished to continue the long tradition of assigning press seating. Since that capitulation, the MSM grew exponentially corrupt and forced out any alternative source leading to the information monolith that existed right up until Trump destroyed them.

It is long past time the left-wing monolith media is dismantled, piece by piece. No turning back and no surrender.

Have them do a lottery - everyone is equal...

I have advocated this for a long time. Let every one who claims on any basis to be a 'journalist' get his/her name in the bucket and draw out about half as many as there are current seats.

By anyone, I mean anyone with a blog, or a record of posting in discussion forum sites (yes, like Freerepublic) or a column in a weekly free shopper add, or an 'influencer' with three followers can get his/her name in the bucket.

That does two things: First, it lets other voices be heard - even communists or Birchers or praying grandmothers from outside abortion mills. Second, it shows the main stream media that they are considered no more important (which is true) or more consequential than a blogger in his basement.

At times you'd still get very left-wing 'journalists', who would try to shout down anyone else. But that rude, obnoxious, 'unprofessional' behavior would convict them in front of the whole country. And when some conservatives get a chance to ask questions, we'd really learn things that "We, the People" need to know.

During the question period, have them hold their hand up as when they were in elementary school and the president or president’s speaker will choose who can ask a question...After the answer, no follow-up questions...

If anyone interrupts, they are to be escorted from the room...

That wouldn’t stop a Democrat from voting, or asking rude questions of a Conservative.
