She can’t have been that mad if they’re texting how cool the cybertruck was. If she was mad enough to leave, she’d been telling him to take his gf on a ride in it or worse.

“Pawn” - rather than ‘patsy’ - is more appropriate.
The game has only just begun.
And nearly everyone is looking the wrong way...as intended.

That was one of his girlfriends he was talking to about the truck, not his wife.

True—but that tells us nothing about this case.

Since we do not have all the details, we must use supposition at this point but yes he could used have common easily available cannon fuse. Measure out a certain length (which burns at an exact time rate) light it, close the bed and drive up to the front of the hotel, commit suicide while the fuse is burning and the explosion would happen when the fuse eventually burns down to the charge. Actually very simple and plausible.

Not anyone’s patsy, just a guy who went off the deep end mentally. Some people need everything to be a conspiracy.
The duded was active SF, supposedly. The screening process for those guys is quite significant, making them far less likely to go "off the deep end" than your average Joe.
To me, a scenario in which a Green Beret blows himself up in a car with fireworks outside a hotel just to make some kind of lame point is asinine. Some useless, pointless desperate act like that is something that powerless people without any real resources do, which definitely doesn't describe this guy.

?? I was here before you started saying dumb things.
Anyhoo. Have you seen my new tag line? I’m a lot smarter than I was since we last talked. Not too good for you, but my advice is better, so I guess its win-win.

Actually a 20 foot roll of safety fuse (available at any decent firework store) would give you about 9 minutes from when it was lit to when it would burn through, based on a 27 seconds per inch burn rate.

If a kid lies to his dad 40 times in a row and gets caught, who believes him on the 41st time? Do you? Or do you check it out a little? At least think about it a little harder?
Shoot. We've had people on here whose response to such things is, essentially, "If the news organizations were lying to us we would have seen something about it on TV."

“He was subject to the same foibles and failings as the rest of us.”
Nope. They check for that when you enter military, they check harder when you go SF, they check even harder when you get a clearance, and they check harder when you get a high one with read-ons.
Your argument is on the fringe of the bell curve, meaning it is possible but not likely. This is how ‘tards argue.
I’m starting to smell something here Larry. And it’s not good.

PS - Until they catch Bernell Trammell’s killer, my tagline stays the same.

He was a trained demolition expert.
But if you want to think he would use a toy fuse to set it off, be my guest.

A lot of this stuff we fall for over and over again.
Like the bit where they trot a bunch of chicks out claiming they were molested. That worked like 20 times in a row. I think as a group we have finally figured that one out.
The ‘ol white guy killed a poor black guy still is good for riots, but it seems like it’s getting worn.
The one I’m worried about is the new technique of dreaded disease. That shit better not work again or I’m going to be pissed.

One of my favorite conspiracy theories is that the Intelligence Agencies dump lots of idiotic conspiracy theories all over the Internet to discredit conspiracy theories in general.
One of my favorite conspiracy theories is that the CIA invented the term "conspiracy theory" to use as a tool for discrediting any reasonable analysis of events or behavior whatsoever. It is a control term similar to "racism" or "homophobia", used to shut down discussion and debate immediately, to relegate any conclusion from the use of your own eyes, ears and brain to some easily dismissible category of mental derangement without the need to refute a thing.
For example, one could say that it is self-evident that federal agents murdered scores of men, women, and children at Waco, Texas, but then some yahoo just says "Oh that's just a conspiracy theory" and voila! serious discussion is ended.

"I’ll go out on a limb and suggest the guy snapped and was operating in kookland. Primary reason a lot of his actions don’t make sense."
A normal person would have just shot himself instead of making a spectacle of himself. He could have still left a manifesto for police to find. He had to be cuckoo to eliminate himself just when there was hope for change in this country. Pretty stupid thing to do in my opinion. Suicide is a cowardly act to begin with. I read he refused to go for therapy.

That is always a key question; however, it would appear ML, the driver, ML, was well down on the decision list and likely thought he was involved in a different operation.
My answer to the question as I argued a few days ago is, "higher command".
