He’s not wrong. The American system was set up so the average person could not obtain enough training to break out of middle class and become next door neighbours to people like Bill Gates. This is despite the fact that, overall, Americans tend to prioritize work over anything else.
99% of jobs could be learned on the job and that is not allowed in most industries.
You don’t get to simultaneously say American engineers suck, while firing them after using them to train H1Bs.
There are one hell of a lot of good and hardworking American engineers. And they play hell even getting an interview in Indian dominated big tech.
‘Whiplash’ is a great movie.
Viveck can go to hell. He offers no solutions to the immigration problem except..... more immigration. Viveck Ramascummy is a one-trick pony and I hope he fades away into the obscurity he deserves in American politics.
I would take graduates from the top 20 to 40 US engineering schools before any grad from the top university in India.
I hear what he is saying, but as someone who just lost his job to Indian slaves, I am skeptical.
If AOC had praised American culture or the US educational system, Haley would be condemning her for it.
All Haley and GOP establishment care about is dividing and conquering the incoming Trump administration.
I have to agree with Vivek. What he says is demonstrably true. We DO NOT emphasize academic achievement in our country. And, this is not a new phenomenon. It goes back many decades. Example: our Space Program was not advanced by any American. It was advanced by a German after WWII. This is but one example. There are countless examples.
Viveks example of America’s valuation of the Superficial, Cheerleaders, and Jocks, above the intellectually gifted is well documented. It’s an undeniable FACT!
The Asian Culture is the EXACT OPPOSITE. Asian parents stress educational accomplishment above all else. Their culture is all about EDUCATIONAL ACHEIEVEMENT. Period. Anything else above that is BONUS!
If there is that great of a shortage, why isn’t every US citizen with a STEM degree not employed in their field? I can think of two.
1. There isn’t.
2. Tech companies want cheap labor, not necessarily the best labor.
In fairness to Vivek and Musk, they don't want to import third-world trash that ends up sucking taxpayer money.
And when discussing how critical it is that the tech bros get their cheap foreign coolie labor, it’s time to have a discussion about what the tech industry has given America.
About 85% of what they create and have created has made America worse. They have given us the social isolation of social media, worse health through their mRNA nostrums and weird food products, they have flooded America with the filthiest porn imaginable and for girls to make it at home and get paid for it with Only Fans, they gave us the hideous Arab spring that killed hundreds of thousands, they helped steal the 2020 election. They have given America the post pervasive domestic mass spying regime in human history. They have made cars expensive and unreliable. They have destroyed entire industries and everywhere you go you need an app.
They colluded with Governments to conduct censorship against the American people. The Hindus running big tech were rabidly enthusiastic about censorship.
I can live without a talking doorbell, a refrigerator that tracks if the milk is expired, surveillance cameras everywhere, and the 1500 microchips in a new F-150.
We could do with a little LESS from big tech, and therefore, they do not need as many pagan immigrants who despise every concept America was founded on.
“He’s not wrong.”
Yes, he is. I have taught, worked with, and mentored some of the top computer scientists and engineers in America. They get sold out by the H1B and DEI systems and they melt into other professions.
Vivek getting curb stomped by Nikki, LOL. I know Nikki doesn’t mean it, only hates Vivek, but what an own goal by Vivek. Think he still has some issues from High School he never got over.
You have a terrible sense of history.
Vivek is an Indian anchor baby. Trump said on Day 1 he was ending anchor babies.
People that could pass vector calculus might have given him a chip on his shoulder. He's also completely wrong about American engineers.
