Has the archbishop ever heard of Islamic jihad? ...His people live among Muslims, and he knows they’ll be attacked if he says anything about jihad. He also knows that he can criticize Zionism all day long and he will not be in any danger for doing so. And so he lambastes Israel freely while never uttering a critical word against the most successful and far-reaching colonialist project in history, the jihad that conquered, Islamized, and Arabized the entire Middle East, North Africa, and more. And as for the good archbishop’s charge of “genocide,” why is he accepting Hamas’ casualty figures? Hanna did not spare Huckabee. According to Hanna, the incoming ambassador to Israel “alleges that there is no such thing as Palestine or a Palestinian people, as though he has not read history—or refuses to acknowledge it—that Palestine exists, and its people exist, whether he likes it or not.” This is off the mark. Neither Huckabee nor anyone else actually denies the existence of “Palestine.” But throughout history, it was the name of a region, not of a people. Can the archbishop produce even one instance of anyone referring to “the Palestinians” before the 1960s? One would think they would have been mentioned at the time of the founding of the state of Israel and the first war against it in 1948. Yet there is nothing. Why not? ... The Fourth Ecumenical Council was actually held in Chalcedon, not Nicaea, and not in the fourth century AD, but in the fifth. These may be minor quibbles, but Hanna is claiming to know the history of the region and contending that Huckabee doesn’t, so it matters that the archbishop is getting basic facts wrong...What about the role of jihad in preventing that freedom and peace?

Thanks for posting. HOORAY Robert Spencer! Enablers of jihad ALERT. Live free?
The liberal SPLC pandering to CAIR lobby casts him (R.S.) as “hate.”
Of course. Another EVIL collective in the republic.
Woke is going down...fast.
He's not "criticizing" or "lambasting" Israel.
He's making a theological statement. Which is keeping with the vast majority of Christian theology -- Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant -- for the past 2,000 years. A theology that holds that the Church IS New Israel.
The Bad Theology of Our Israel Über Alles Foreign Policy.
Dispensationalism is a recent theological program that traces its origins to John Nelson Darby (1800-1882), an Anglo-Irish minister connected with Plymouth Brethren (a low church nonconformist movement)... Prior to Darby’s influence, orthodox Christians believed that all of God’s promises were fulfilled in Christ...
Consequently, orthodox Christians believed pre-Darby (and still believe today) that Israel and the church are one in Christ. They point, for example, to Paul’s teaching in Romans 11 where he describes the Gentiles as a wild olive shoot grafted onto Israel. Paul’s point, of course, is that there is only one olive bush that Jehovah tends and nourishes.
Dispensationalism gained steam through the “prophecy conference” movement and publication of the Scofield Study Bible in 1909, which contained myriad footnotes supporting Darby’s view of scripture...
Nice summary.
In earlier times, new theological ideas were heavily debated at the Nicene council, Diet of Worms, Westminster Assembly, or Synod of Dort.
The Scofield study Bible reference just began to appear in Bibles without debate or without question.
The concept is if you reject Jesus Christ as the Son of God in a certain way, you become one of the Chosen People. Insane!
Jesus is Lord!
Oh, infamous Angelino97 spamming sh#t again.
Angino97 is not about truth.
Theodosios (Hanna) of Sebastia (born 1965) is the Archbishop of Sebastia from the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Sebastia is the 2nd century name for the city of Samaria
I think he's fallen for nationalism v/s Christianity, which is characterized by his taking the term "P" for himself
"arab nationalism" in the late 1900s, early 1900s got tied in to Islam
What is needed is to remind the people of the Middle East that the "Arabization" was a form of colonialism -- people like Archbishop Hannan are Samaritans or Levantines or Phoenicians or Syrians etc. not "Arabs"
Angelino - the thing is that the Archbishop didn’t make it in theological concepts and going by his previous statements, this is more a nationalistic sense
As to the Church is the new Israel - I agree to that, and agree with the rest of your point, however the Archbishop is arguing against a national entity - Israel, by creating a new national entity - Palestinian.
He, the archbish - is, as I said above, most likely of Samaritan and Jewish heritage with Greek, Phoenician etc. mixed in - he’s been bitten by the “arab nationalism” bug.
Correct and historically as well as theologically quite false
People seem to forget that
1., Christianity IS a sect of Judaism - a sect of 2nd temple Judaism to be precise - alongside the competing sects of Pharisee, Sadducees, Essene etc. 2nd temple Judaism
2. What we call "Judaism" today is a recreation of Pharisee Judaism created in 70 AD by Rabbi yohannan bin Zakkai after the destruction of the temple
2.1. - this replaced the focus on temple worship, Cohen priests, animal sacrifices with synagogues, rabbis and todah
2.2. The Oral Torach of the Pharisees was eventually writen down in the 9th century as the Talmud
2.3. so yes, what we call "Judaism" today is really Rabbinical Judaism and is younger to Christianity by about 4 decades
3. Both the Jesus-movement i.e. Christian sect of 2nd temple Judaism and the Rabbinical Judaism sect have additional books to the Old Testament - for the Christians this is the New Testament bookS and for the Rabbinical Judaism this is the Talmud and the Halakah
the Jesus-movement Jews were a tiny sect with a leader who claimed to be God, was crucified like a common criminal, and, until 70 AD hadn't committed any grand "godly" victories - even his claim of destroying the temple hadn't happened. And the leadership of this sect were poor, low-education fishermen etc. - pish-posh
So why did they succeed in 70 ad? Because their Lord's prophecy came through - and the nation of Israel now was expanded to the entire globe
The Scofield bible and dispensationalism is a rebirth of thefirst heresy that Christianity faced - should one become a "by the Mosaic Law" Jew to be a "true Christian"?
Christian Zionism is Islam turned inside out for American chumps. False and dangerous, just like Islam 1.0.
The thing is that I don’t see a need to bring theology into the support for Israel.
Israel is
1. an openly functioning democracy - in which its Arab, Druze, Jewish etc. citizens all have equal rights. In which whether you are a Jew or a Muslims or a Christian or a Druze, you have equal rights. Where there are Muslim members of parliament etc.
2. It has also consistently being trying to be at peace with its neighbors
3. It was attacked on 7th October 2023 after trying peace
4. It has said consistently that “release our hostages and this stops immediately”.
It has a right to exist and exist peacefully.
That is true too.
“The Bad Theology of Our Israel Über Alles Foreign Policy.”
Bad Theology is an understatement.
Most cults are reasonable compared to lunacy of this viewpoint.
Dispensationalism is, at best, a distraction from the Gospel message. Worse, though, is when it is used to equate a 21st century nation-state with God’s providence and then obligate the United States to support that nation-state uncritically.
Islamic cult?
In the basics, it is Israel who suffers, for being an ally of US, this is how the Islamists’ name calling: “big Satan/ little Satan” began in 1979 by the Islamic Fascist Republic seeking world domination.
