“Uneducated” Americans are holding the country “hostage,” according to an English instructor at the University of South Carolina.
“There is a reason why educated people vote blue. What we’re seeing is the uneducated population of America holding the rest of the country hostage,” Sueanna Smith wrote on X last night. “This is why there’s such a push to weaken education, ban books, and outlaw the teaching of Black history by the Republican Party.”
She wrote a handful of other posts after that attempting to clarify her point, though she continued to repeat that she believes Trump supporters are not smart.

Arrogant elite entitled instructor (not even a professor) holds the unwashed masses in contempt.
Vote for us because we say we’re smart.
she believes Trump supporters are not smart
Obviously smarter than her and Camel Hairs.
Sueanna, being a “college instructor” and all will easily remember what was said of King Charles I. He was referred to as the most educated fool in Chistendom. Sueanna might also do well to remember how he badly turned out. The uneducated, unwashed, deplorable garbage people of the time treated him even worse than Kamala. Our system is definitely better, Sueanna.
Unless, of course, they are willing to embrace her as an official spokesperson for the University of South Carolina?
Really?
I am an SB graduate of MIT, and a PhD graduate of Harvard.
I support Donald J Trump 100%.
There, fixed it.
I got me one of them Master’s Deeegres. I is edgumicsted. I voted fer that Trump fellor cuz I am a white bigot.
My household, all college graduates, voted for Trump.
Appears to be the perfect target for my favorite label: educated beyond her intelligence.
Two masters and the courses for a PhD here. Husband w an MIT PhD and they estimated his IQ at over 230 when he was a kid. Adorable Quiz Kid who was turned into a joke on the 64K Question when he was 16 after they told him to follow the girl to the card sorter and then said that they knew she was pretty but come over here with us. Total mind freeze, poor baby.
Intelligence doesn’t have to be connected to education, though it often is. If it’s associated with common sense, it can lead to very successful individuals in any field. If they’re lucky, they’ll find their other halves ala Socrates and lead lives of happiness. And that common sense will guide them to listen to Trump and the people like him and understand the benefits of their policies in their own lives. Intelligence is more likely to be found among those who listen, evaluate, then make common sense judgements about the rightness of what they’re hearing.
We call those people Republicans!
Yeah...me got me one of them there MBAs...I voted Trump.
We voted for Trump precisely because elitist scum like you wanted to run our lives.
She is an instructor in tree climbing, no doubt. Must have fell one too many times.
Exactly. These arrogant elitists can’t fathom that people can be intelligent and not have a higher degree. The contempt that drips from them about those with less education is disgusting.
One thing I understand is, that the more I learn, the less I know. That is, the best thing to learn is that I’m ignorant of what lots of other people know, because my own interests are not necessarily other people’s. Therefore, liberty is the best, because I, that University professor, and everyone else is simply unfit to run everybody else’s lives to the last detail.
Note: here, ignorant doesn’t mean lacking in intelligence.
He conflates education with intelligence, a common mistake among academics.
She probably doesn’t know that she enjoys her right to “vote blue” because Republicans supported a woman’s right to vote back in the day. Republicans supported the 19th Amendment.
