Since we started burning fossil fuels on a widespread, global scale, the number of people killed by natural disasters has gotten smaller, not bigger.

Does this mean that we have fewer natural disasters now than in the past?

No.

Instead, what it means is that the huge amount of wealth that we have created by burning fossil fuels has made us better able to withstand natural disasters.

This chart shows the number of people killed (per 100,000 population) by natural disasters by decade.

You can see a bigger version of the chart by clicking this link: https://www.businessinsider.com/natural-disasters-used-to-be-so-much-worse-2015-2

We also can commute to better jobs, avoid hypothermia deaths, pave our streets, shingle our roofs from rain and snow, and nine thousand other benefits right down to the soles on your shoes.

Morons posing as human beings.

Try making toilet paper without fossil fuels!?

I like the toilet paper paradox, as it's the only one they do understand.

I was afraid you’d catch me out on that.

Also petrol for tractors, corn shelling machines, delivery trucks, ...

I think a bigger contributor to this is technology. We have radar. TV. Radio. Al Gore's internet.

We were burning fossil fuels when the hurricane hit Galveston in 1906 killing 6000 people.

has anyone ever been pulled out of the wreckage of a natural disaster by solar powered heavy equipment? or a solar powered ambulance? just curious.

This is a retread of an article the Cato Institute ran in 2014.

The One Statistic Climate Catastrophists Don’t Want You to Know

"...Here are a couple of striking numbers from the data: in the decade from 2004 to 2013, worldwide climate-related deaths (including droughts, floods, extreme temperatures, wildfires, and storms) plummeted to a level 88.6 percent below that of the peak decade, 1930 to 1939.2 The year 2013, with 29,404 reported deaths, had 99.4 percent fewer climate-related deaths than the historic record year of 1932, which had 5,073,283 reported deaths for the same category...."

There is a lot of government lying going on everywhere but one of the biggest whoppers of all time that has bugged me for decades is that ‘fossils’ are the globe’s endless source of crude. Didn’t experts say we only had 10 years of fossil fuel left a half century ago? Then when crude never seemed to run out, they flipped the narrative and decided to blame all weather changes short of a perfect day on carbon pollution. When that fear mongering didn’t work, Al Gore came along claiming the world was going to melt away in 10 years because of global warming if people didn’t stop with their insane love affair with carbon based fuels. When Gore’s lies proved false, the environmentalists flipped the narrative again to ‘climate change.’ This time they hit on something safe because they knew darn well climate change is a naturally occurring circumstance that is intrinsic to God’s marvelous earthly creation. Now they are into peddling their EV play toys to displace petroleum powered vehicles - toys that spontaneous set on fire, burn your house down and produce toxic materials that pollute the environment. The elite idiots that have nothing better to do than pretend they can re-engineer the world will never stop with this nonsense.
