In Michigan, election clerks are barring partisan election observers from participating in the phase of the election process where mail-in ballots are checked to see if the person casting the ballot is registered to vote, when the ballot was received, and whether the signature is valid. Committee on House Administration, Chairman Bryan Steil, (R-Wis) has asked Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson "to communicate to the various clerk offices that partisan challengers are permitted to observe initial processing of mail-in ballots and signature verification."
Benson insists that "partisan observers are only permitted to view the counting of ballots that have already gone through the initial verification phase. Democracy requires a secret ballot. Keeping outsiders from knowing the identity of persons casting ballots is essential for preserving secrecy. Not knowing who casts each ballot guarantees this."
Steil complained that "blocking partisan observers from any stage of the process completely undermines the integrity of the election. If the government employees are the only ones to see and decide the validity of each ballot there is no verification that the ballots were cast by legitimate eligible and registered voters."
Benson pointed out that "the government employees that verify the ballots answer to the political authorities who were elected by the voters in the prior election. That is what guarantees that democracy is working as its supposed to be working because the folks who won a majority at the prior election have the last say over the procedure that is used to decide the next election. If Republicans want to change the procedure they must first win an election overseen by the employees of the Democrats who are their duly elected bosses."

I call BS on this
It actually guarantees that the ballot counters can jiggle the results to whatever outcome they want - as if the government officials were NOT partisan.
Quinnipiac just released their MI poll: DJT +4
