That would make a perfect cover to launder all the money.
Ryan Routh did not kill himself
I wonder if the rifle and everything else left behind was free of fingerprints. Did he wear gloves? Sounds like he had a good set-up for shoot, and walk away. But for a photo taken by a witness, it worked.
DEFINITELY A CONSPIRACY!! A CABAL OF PURE EVILNESS RUNNING THIS MORON!! CIA? FBI? SS?? ANY OR ALL OF THE ABOVE???
There are a TON of WEIRD things with this guy!!
36k a year this year doesn’t mean he made the same or less prior years. Maybe recently unemployed. The gun could’ve been in his NC house for years.
SKS is generally junk
I remember in the early 90’s I could buy Chinese SKS for less than $100
Chech and Romanian were much better and commanded better prices.
I wonder where he got the idea to hang armor plates in backpacks from a chain-link fence for a bulletproof shield. Sounds like the kind of thing you’d see in a Matt Bracken novel, but I don’t recall it from those. Must be something they teach roofers in HI. Or assassins in Ukraine.
I think i read he has a pad in Hawaii and some decent threads too.
Can't they (SS/FBI/NSA) track his cell phone locations for months? Then check other pings in his immediate location over time?
“ SKS is nothing special.”
Trump’s golfing path would have brought him right by the assassin’s hiding place, if he had escaped detection just a little longer.
But there seem to be several contradictions in his story.
The son of the alleged gunman who targeted former President Donald Trump on his Florida golf course Sunday said his dad hates Trump like “every reasonable person does” — but claimed he’s not a violent person, according to a report.
“He’s my dad and all he’s had is couple traffic tickets, as far as I know,” the son told the Daily Mail. “That’s crazy. I know my dad and love my dad, but that’s nothing like him.”
“He’s not a violent person,” Oran Routh also said. “He’s a hard worker and a great dad. He’s a great dude, a nice guy and has worked his whole f–king life.”
“He said he was at the beach, but I thought that meant the outer banks in Hawaii,” he reportedly said. “I didn’t ask him for more information because we’ve had a falling out. We’ve grown apart.”
This whole story has quite a few oddities. We'll never know the truth. Not in this case, and not in the Butler, PA case.
They’re all pretty spendy, now. I wondered if he’d had it since his NC days. Scrubbed of SN is kinda risky. I also wondered if maybe it’s been off-the-books in some shady intel armory, perhaps taken as a crime gun during a previous administration. . But, hey...that’s just me.
SKS certainly not a long range competition rifle. But then neither was Oswald’s Carcano.
Just a side note: That does not work. The stamp goes through the metal and can be recovered quickly. Scratching off the numbers will not prevent the LEOs from tracking its importation or who bought it.
I had similar suspicions about his shed/tiny house business:

In addition to his girlfriend’s GoFundMe, he had at least one website soliciting donations and volunteers to fight in Ukraine. The GoFundMe did not raise much:
“According to a GoFundMe page posted by Routh’s fiancée, Kathleen Shaffer, he traveled to the country in April 2022. Photos geolocated by CNN show Routh posing with pro-Ukranian signs, as well as a large number of drones, at Kyiv’s Maidan Square. The GoFundMe page, which has since been taken down, raised $1,865 of its $2,500 goal, which Shaffer wrote would go toward tactical gear, lodging and supplies needed for volunteers. Shaffer wrote that Routh had already “arranged for delivery of 120 drones to the front lines,” though CNN could not verify those claims.”

(Haha, 120 drones for $1,865? Sure, toy drones from Bargain Hunt, lol.)
According to various news reports, he had a long history of writing bad checks and possessing stolen goods, his roofing business in NC was sued by suppliers and contractors, he didn’t pay his bills or taxes.
“The records show various run-ins with state and federal tax authorities over the years. In 2008, for example, the Internal Revenue Service placed a lien as it sought to collect nearly $32,000 from Routh.”

“State and federal authorities have repeatedly accused him of failing to pay his taxes on time. For example, he faced a federal tax lien in 2008 of about $32,000, according to court records.
In 1998, the state alleged he committed an offense related to a “worthless check,” though that case was dismissed.
Separately, judges have ordered him to pay tens of thousands of dollars to plaintiffs in various civil suits.”

Probably not a crime gun, too much paper trail. Most likely a gun that has been privately sold a number of times. A gun show gun most likely. The more times it has changed hands the better. Probably why they chose an SKS. Nobody gets sentimental about a SKS. (Unless it was their first gun)
If it is a cheap SKS with the sheet metal upper the FBI or BTAF would know the best methods of obliterating the serial number.
Just a thought, obliterating the serial number may have been done just to make it look like he got the gun illegally. Which of course he would have to do considering his felony record.
I saw that in the forensic files , they are able to read the numbers that had been scratched out . electron microscope I believe is what they used.
Firearm serial numbers are a critical identifying mark, and restoration of destroyed serial numbers is often crucial for prosecution of a criminal case.
A method is presented utilizing electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) in the scanning electron microscope (SEM) which allows for clear visualization of die-stamped imprints which have been completely polished away.
Evidence of the stamp can be observed to a depth of approximately 760μm below the surface.
With further development, the described method is capable of reconstructing an 8 character serial number in approximately 1h.
Routh will soon hang himself in his jail cell. 😏
This guy’s entire work life was in work that deals a lot with cash, his declared income meant nothing, not even when he had a contractor’s license.
He was an especially shady Contractor/Handyman/Roofer/Jack of All Trades and in recent years unmonitored fund raiser and online hustler and he appears to be a guy of low consumption and focus on probably cheap flights and some low cost visits to some places for his highly costumed publicity seeking as a sort of online influencer and world shaking problem solver.
Until we learn more I’m not assuming that he required huge amounts of money for his activities, just some budgeting and hustling and a lot of time on the internet.
