Me either..AK basically a CQB (close quarter ccombat) weapon with a round about comparable to a 30 30. Not considered by any stretch as a long range accurate sniper rifle. The rifle in the photo appears to have a gas tube on top of the much longer than an AK barrel which looks in the same design family and semi automatic. However, this specimen may be a more accurate Dragunov type chambered in 7,62 x 54R, a much more formidable and accurate round espeially with scope. Point is, it’s not an AK 47. All Russian origination and very, very good.
Well when it comes to weapons, the media considers everything to be an AK. My Ruger 10/22 is an AK. My Remington 20 gauge pump gun is an AK.
The Dragunov does have some similarities to the AK. Being a gas stroke semi or full auto feed rifle. It is far superior though because it has a fully machined receiver (vs. stamped sheet metal) and three locking lugs (instead of two) and a shorter gas stroke and tighter tolerances. And of course the calibers are different. I’d love to have one but I don’t know why. I don’t shoot the guns I do have.
