Gov. Mike DeWine Deploys State Troopers to Springfield, OH, Despite ABC Claiming All Is Well There

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has ordered state troopers and additional funding sent to the suffering city of Springfield, Ohio, to deal with a major influx of Haitian illegal immigrants dropped off there by the Biden-Harris regime:

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced new state support for the city of Springfield, which is dealing with significant stress on its healthcare and public safety systems due to the influx of thousands of Haitian migrants over the last several years.

“I want the people of Springfield and Clark County to know that as we move forward, we will continue to do everything we can to help the community deal with this surge of migrants,” said Governor DeWine. “The federal government has not demonstrated that they have any kind of plan to deal with the issue. We will not walk away.”

The influx of Haitians to Springfield and Clark County has significantly impacted local primary care providers due to the increased number of patients and the need for more translation services. In general, migrants from Haiti have had little to no healthcare services prior to arriving in the United States, including vaccinations. Governor DeWine announced today that he is dedicating $2.5 million toward expanding primary care access for everyone living in Springfield. Governor DeWine has directed the Ohio Department of Health to work with the Clark County Health Department and other healthcare providers on this effort.

To address the increase in dangerous driving in Springfield by inexperienced Haitian drivers and all others who disregard traffic laws, Governor DeWine directed the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) to support the Springfield Police Department with traffic enforcement. Beginning tomorrow morning, OSHP troopers will patrol local roads with the highest crash rates and hold accountable any driver who drives erratically and risks the safety of others.

These two new initiatives add to other support that the state has already provided to Springfield to aid in addressing the increase in the area’s Haitian population, including:

• Creating a school-based health clinic in the Springfield City School District to expand primary care access for school children and their parents throughout the community
• Increasing support for vaccinations and health screenings through the local health department
• Allocating additional funds to the Clark County Department of Job and Family Services for translation services
• Providing funding to Clark State College for services to teach English to Haitians.
• Providing driving simulators and offering driver education classes targeted to the Haitian community
• Working with the Springfield School District to maximize existing resources and provide ongoing support to deal with the surge of migrant students

Because the federal government’s policies have led to this and other migrant surges across the United States, Governor DeWine also called on the federal government to better support communities that experience an unexpected increase in migrant population.

“The federal government needs to assist these communities with funding because these dramatic migrant surges impact every citizen in the community — the moms who have to wait hours in a waiting room with a sick child, everyone who drives on our streets, and the children who go to school in more crowded classrooms,” said Governor DeWine. “The federal government does not have a plan to give any support to the communities impacted by surges, and we have absolutely no indication that a plan is coming in the near future.”

There is also evidence that fundamental law and order is breaking down under the weight of the unsupported arrival of some 15,000 Haitians in this city of 59,000, where most of the illegals seem to be military-age males:

Swamping the city with Haitian illegals, even when they aren't consciously involved in crime, is creating a body count on the highways as unlicensed drivers create carnage:

NEW: Springfield, Ohio couple mourns the death of their mother, 71-year-old grandmother Kathy Heaton, who was allegedly struck and killed by a Haitian migrant "driving recklessly."

"She was collecting her trash from her driveway when a car struck and killed her instantly."

"I say 'allegedly' because, to this day, there has been no punishment—not even for the expired tags on the vehicle he was driving."

"Months before she was killed, I noticed the reckless driving and disregard for traffic laws by some members of the Haitian community."

"We have unfortunately seen countless vehicle crashes in our area involving people of Haitian descent."

Other residents have voiced similar concerns, with a video circulating showing some of these alleged incidents.

Kamala Harris's open border policy has brought around 20,000 migrants to the town of 60,000, straining public services and creating a housing crisis, according to Mayor Rob Rue.

In fairness, Democrat Mayor Rob Rue, who was elected with a solid Soviet-style 100% of the vote just a year ago, seems to have been firing red star clusters for a while and getting no help from anyone:

There are signs that the community may be rousing itself to change the status quo:

The lack of housing codes being enforced has resulted in landlords not renewing leases for U.S. citizens so they can cram up to a dozen Haitians in a 2 to 3 bedroom home. This has resulted in U.S. citizens having to move away or live in encampments.

In the best light, this makes DeWine a frontrunner for the Too-Little-Too-Late Award/Governor's Category. DeWine has obviously known about the crisis for a while, and it wasn't until stories of Haitians chowing down on cats and dogs made national news that he acted.

There is a darker side, if I can use that metaphor, to this whole story. One of the key allegations in the recall petition is that the city government blocked building code enforcement so unscrupulous landlords could pack as many illegals into a house or apartment as would fit. While the influx of state troopers and state money might staunch the bleeding, ultimately, what needs to happen is a mass deportation campaign and a criminal investigation to find out how this situation came to be and who is responsible.

Previous headlines were not accurate, but since I was busy I chose not to comment on it because I thought my perception of his release describing the deployment was off.

I don’t think that I was off.

I don’t believe that dewine is sending ‘help’ to the city for the taxpaying US CITIZENS. Rather, it sure smells like he’s just CYA - ‘help’ for the haitains - and will attempt to clean up the matter without doing a damned thing about the real problem.

We shall see...
