Vice President Kamala Harris’s attempt last week to suddenly change the ABC News debate rules miserably failed.
The Harris campaign caved on Tuesday and decided to go along with its previously agreed debate rules with no notes, no sitting, no audience, and no open mics, a senior Trump campaign aide told Breitbart News.
ABC News will virtually hold a coin toss to determine the order of closing arguments and podium positioning at 12:30 pm, the aide added.
The debate dispute goes back to when President Joe Biden was still in the race. Both candidates agreed on two debates (CNN on June 27 and ABC on September 10), with Biden insisting that microphones “be muted throughout the debate except for the candidate whose turn it is to speak,” CNN reported on June 15.
Harris then joined the race. Two weeks ago, both the Trump and Harris campaigns had ABC News’s debate rules in writing and both sides confirmed to the network the debate was a “go,” the Trump ally told Breitbart News.
To apparently avoid too much media attention on the anniversary of the deadly Afghan withdrawal in the coming week, the Harris campaign suddenly requested that ABC News and other networks unmute candidates’ microphones, an idea Trump continued to oppose.

It will never happen...the revolution you speak about. The SCOTUS already ruled those in the DC Gulag are held illegally yet they are still there. There is no revolt.
Conservatives have real jobs they can’t afford to lose and the left will throw them in a gulag for years just for exposing their corruption. Sorry we are communist now.
She will come down with covid, or they'll get their lefty judge to put Trump in jail, or they'll try another assassination attempt, or it will be something else.
Rest assured, they are working on the reason for her no to debate. Their internals are a nightmare, and pretty soon even the Lamestream media +5 Dem weighted polls are going to have her losing big.
If she were to debate Trump, then all Dems on the ballot are going to have to distance themselves from her and her policies, which means the Senate and the House will be Republican.
The most effective revolution would be a consumer revolution. If you don’t absolutely need it, don’t buy it. Hit the global economy where it hurts.
“how is she going to stand up to Shumer or Putin or the Red Chinese?”
Why would she? They’re all on the same side.
Trump is ahead. If she were ahead in the polls, there would be no debate.
Trump needs to avoid anything sexist and talk about the issues and the past four years.
I’ll bet that was hard for her to swallow.
In other words, don’t wait in the food lines that are soon to follow if Kamala puts in price controls.
I agree with half of that. :(
Abortion on demand didn't create the revolution. Homeland Security Act didn't do it. Obamacare. Ongoing invasion of our borders by millions. Covid lockdown, coerced vax, all the dead elderly. Election 2020 didn't create the revolution.
If Harris/Walz win/cheat, all they have to do is lock up a few more potential revolutionaries (create a few desaparecidos) and how does a revolution get created?
Not that we even have many potential revolutionaries. If King George III had had today's technology, in a week he could have rounded up and made to vanish every troublemaker in the colonies.
Now, if by revolution we mean a sudden and widespread refusal to continue funding the mobster government, we'd have to go on strike and stop working and then how would we eat? Who'd blink first, the people or the government?
Look, media! Squirrel!
Our economy depends on consumer spending on non-essentials, particularly between Thanksgiving and Christmas. If that spending evaporates, whether due to consumer choice or lack of money to spend, the global economy collapses.
If you make the money, the government will tax it out of you. If they want more, to subsidize businesses you no longer patronize, they will tax you more.
I believe the most effective revolution, perhaps the only effective one, is to quit feeding the wolf directly. But, would you quit working because they put Trump in prison? Or for any other reason?
I wish I could believe that but I don’t think the fighting age men in this country are going to rise up.
If stealing an election didn’t spark a revolution I doubt this will.
I am sure they will accidentally leave her mic on the whole time. Or at least place one close enough to catch every utterance from her vapid map.
Yes, the government can take whatever it wants. But if businesses aren’t thriving, there is a lot less money to take. And no, I wouldn’t quit working. But I might lose my job if my company goes out of business.
A debate will make her look even more clueless and stupid than she already does. If that’s even possible.
Then you wouldn't want to endorse a nationwide "consumer revolution" to pressure the government to be less tyrannical (or, per the thread, to cease trying to imprison DJT). It is your choice. We should all know where we stand.
If Harris was comfy with polling leads, she would not cave. This means she’s desperate and sees the debates as her only chance.
It doesn’t matter what the format is - Trump will win the debate hands down - that why she won’t go through with it.
I think they will have Biden step down Friday and by Monday she will be POTUS.
Her excuse for skipping the debate will be that she’s too busy running the country. Besides, what’s the point of having debates and elections? She’ll already be POTUS.
The worst thing is - that excuse will make sense to a majority of voters.
Oh, how I wish that would be the response to imprisoning him. But I suspect the more likely reaction would be “Change the channel and pass the potato chips.”
I would if it meant the survival of our country. If we get to the point of price controls and food lines, jobs won’t matter, we’ll all be starving.
