Liking Vance more every day. Yesterday on his campaign plane he really took it to the journalists on the plane, in a very classy and forceful way. He started with “I am getting to know some of you, personally I like you”. Then he addressed their unwillingness to force Kamala into an interview, that she should be willing to talk to the American people. He then said their lack of interest is disgraceful. (Paraphrased). He did the same thing today in Detroit.
Walz was supposed to be the Sam Elliott to Mel Gibson in the movie We Were Soldiers, but he quit when he found out his unit was scheduled to deploy to Iraq.

Gov. Walz’s biography boasts a higher National Guard rank than he retired with after he was automatically demoted for failing to fulfill obligations of his promotion. He also bailed out on his unit before deployment in Iraq.

Stolen Valor seems a bit heavy on this issue. He did serve in uniform. He went off the rails in two areas: Claiming he carried weapons of war “in war” and claiming a rank/title that he didn’t fully earn, so it was therefore rescinded.
What bothers me most is his claim that he had any actual war experience - He didn’t. Technically, neither did I since Somalia and the former Yugoslavia were not declared as anything but UN Humanitarian missions (UnProFor and Op Restore Hope) But I guarantee you, I have more combat experience than he does.
I despise people who embellish their military experience, on behalf of all those folks that lived a more dangerous day to day life than I did. Fallujah would be a good example. Those young men saw more action in a single week than I did in a whole 20yrs.
There’s no shame in not going into battle - Most folks don’t, but they stand ready to do so or actively support those that do. The uninitiated fully deserve their Veteran status and honors, in my opinion. Combat is different. It should never be claimed unless you were their - boots on- in the dirt, or on a ship being targeted.

Making Command Sargeant Major is nothing to sneeze at, even if it does take a lot of politicking. And putting in his papers before a deployment might have been a family decision. Concentrate on his hard left tendencies instead.

The upper levels and senior promotions are very political.
Waltz was politically connected and gifted an unmerited promotion. SOP in the Illinois National Guard.
IMO Waltz took an extra bite from the apple$$$ and later changed his mind, fearing it may be exposed.
